That did appear to be a Cat VI race. That might be about my speed.

1) luckily (for me..) I wasn't riding my bike. the bike I was on ended up with a few bad spokes on the back.
2) this wasn't even the finish, it was like 3 laps to go, so idk what the other kid was thinking
3) it wasn't even cat5. this was a college race. I was helping to organize the event, so I only had time (and I may not be in the best shape ever...) for the INTRO CAT!! with the course being a 1km 6 turn course, it was pretty dodgy... I was expecting to be taken out by some n00b on a corner, not the flatest, straightest part of the course

also, this was the 2nd crash in this particular race on the flat section. the earlier crash was right next to the start/finish, and the fallen rider decided to jump up and attempt to run off the course. naturally, he neglected to pay attention to the riders behind him who then tried their best to swerve around this dodgy character running around. it was pretty hilarious. unfortunately i don't think i got that on tape.

Yeah that guy ran right in front of ME! I should have known at that point the race wasn't going to end well. I think he was like by himself though and just made a consious decision to fall over.

With your permission, I'd like to use that link to start a new thread explaining that "if you think it's safe to let an unknown rider hop onto your wheel while on a training ride, you're wrong".
A lot of BF users say that it's not dangerous, that you can't be taken down from behind.
They say that Roadies are snobs for being picky about who they ride with.
In a race, you sign up for the whole burrito. But on a training ride, you have the right to be picky.

I've had a few people latch onto my wheels during rides last year.....one I ended up sprinting off my wheel up a hill (so much for my recovery ride), and never saw him again. As I inititally passed him, he was REAL squirrely-looking going up a short rise, and I didn't want him behind me. Another, I was pulling into a bit of a headwind at a decent clip, and the guy was apparently enjoying the draft. I was too wasted to drop him, so I turned off at the next road.
I don't like having people that I don't know behind me.
