Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The new Plasma TT bike build

This is what happens when you're looking for 7 seconds.

Pictures don't really do the frame justice, but you get the idea.

Specs:

Cassette: Token CNC ALuminum 11/21
Crankset: Stronglight Vulcan 172.5, Rotor Q Rings (53/40)
Bottom Bracket: American Classic with ceramic bearings
Deralliuers, shifters, chain: Campy Record
Cables: Nokon and Record
Pedals: Look Keo
Brakes: Modified Tektro Carbon
Stem: Syntace F99 with ti hardware and cf stem cap w/ aluminum bolt.
Bars: Easton Attack
Bar Tape: Fizik
Brake levers: Vision aero
Saddle: Selle SMP Strike Evolution
Bottle and cage: Arundel Aero w/carbon cage and aluminum bolts

Weight as shown: 16.1 lbs
With climbing wheels and cassette: 15.7

Really nice ride and very clean aerodynamics. Turned in my PB tonight at our local TT.

Wow, weirdest looking saddle/saddle angle i've ever seen. I almost bought one of those, but seemed too expensive to experiment. How are you liking it?

Interested with your thoughts on the Strike.
I have the composit version and really like it so far, 1 week on, it passes the intervals for 1 hour test better than the Toupe gel I used to have but I haven't put any serious mileage on it yet.
Bit of a one position only for your butt deal as well.
Only paid $80 for it brand new, so was worth a try.

Nice!

But you'd probably save 4 seconds switching away from Tufo tape to a track glue.

If Paris was here she'd say, "That's hot."

I saw a couple of last year's Plasmas framesets (yellow/black) over the weekend at a TT. Those are some sweet looking bikes but not as nice as yours.

If you ever feel the need to spend more money, The Cypress could use a nice TT bike.

Yeah, it had nothing to do with the insane amount of structured training you do, it must be the bike . Thanks for putting over a minute on me in such a short distance.

Dude, a sub 16m time on that course is excellent. My guess is PB also?

On the Strike saddle:

Saddles are obviously very personal, but I like it for TT's. I end up sitting on the nose a lot in TT's and ride at a pretty high cadence, 95-105. Every other seat I've tried (and there's been a lot) ends up making me naughty bits numb. Between warming up and the actual race, I've spent over 2 hours at a pop on this and haven't had any numbness at all. That's worth putting up with a bit more sit bone soreness than I get on long rides/races on my other saddles.

I'll probably end up dropping it and angling it up an MM or so, but I'm dropping the stem a bit first and will see how that works before I make the change.

And it looks like I've got to go out and get one of those poppin Bontrager Speed Bottles now. They weren't out yet when I got the Arundel

My word, puts my P2C to shame. I have the Arundel bottle as well, however.
