Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

people on craigslist with crap descriptions

i hate these people. they tell me on the phone the bike is pristine. i arrive and see the bike looks like it has been left outside for years. chain is rusted, cables worn, scratches everywhere. i wasted $50 in gas looking at various bikes the past few days. i hate these dirtbags who dont value time. very good condition does not equal stiff chain links and loose headsets. dirtbags

This is true, but by being free they will bring out some people who know very little about what they are selling.. all ads should look like this: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/bik/307434009.html

Description, picture.. Basic html that takes 5 minutes to do..

Doughnut holes can be a tasty alternative sometimes, too

You should ask for pics before driving 50 miles.

Well, if a bike has an excellent description, its owner knows the value of the bike.
An ad with a poor description can lead you to a garage treasure, but it takes a lot of time.
At least, many people now have photo cameras and provide pictures.
