Need new frame?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In that price range, I am would definitely recommend a CAAD frame from Cannondale. They are readily available on ebay, and are an excellent, light frameset, that ANYONE can grow into, performance-wise. I got my CAAD7 off of ebay, and I cannot say enough good things about it!

Check Cambria Bike and Universal. They both have frames that are in that range. The Viners and Cinellis are beauties. Perhaps other brands may be tougher.Itilian geo. is a bit more agreesive than it sounds like you'd need by sayin' all-around.

I think the key to finding a great frame for cheap is to go after local builders. this may sound counter to our thinking...but on ebay, a serotta or a trek madone is very likely going to be bid up, but there are bikes on ebay by small local builders. you have to patient, they don't come up everyday, but they do show up...I found a rock lobster made with easton scandium tubing with a easton sl fork for $405. I don't see many lobsters on the road, but paul sadoff builds them all himself and I talked to him at nahbs this last year. did I mention that the bike built up to under 17pounds and handles great?

Thanks for all the help....I like all the frames I see so far, and they are all pretty much what I am looking for.....the only other thing I need help with is trying to figure out if most of all my components from the Schwinn Peleton will fit these frames...I no longer have an owners manual...thanks again
