My BMC Streetfire SSX
My first roadie. Not bad at all...even if abit on the lardy side.
Things to get : SPDs and Roadie Shoes. New wheels. ( Shimano WH500 not very good supposedly ).

Skip the SPDs and get road-specific pedals (Shimano, Look, Time, etc.).

Those are good. I've got Keo Sprints and have loved them. Plus, plastic cleats means I can wear my shoes in the house without the significant other screaming at me.

i bought this baby 5 months ago, i've ridden 3000km on hilly terrain mostly and i love its climbing nature and craftsmanship. Total superiority over my previous roadie (SCOTT AFD). My setup is Ultegra and Ksyrium Elite wheels, Pro stem-bar,Speedplay X/2 pedals(highly recommended).I've scored my best times on it although in winter time. Have fun, climb,climb...

Definitely practice. That grassy field is a good place; if you fall, you won't hurt yourself or the bike.

Mine's a full 105 ( budget didnt allow for ultegra )
Seriously considering other wheels in the near future to replace the Shimano WH500s tho.
Although i havent had another bike to compare it to, i dare say this baby is pretty darn responsive!

Very nice!
I have an older version of the Streetfire, and I'm very happy with it. Also the 105 version. And so far I'm quite happy with the wheels, never had any complaints.
I'll second the advice about the SPDs though - will move away from them soon myself. So far I never really had any problem getting out of them - clipping in is a whole different story however. Not sure what I should put on instead, though. I'll have a look at Look...
Have fun with your BMC. They're really nice rides.
