Accelerade, seems to work...
Maybe..
I went out today and did 70 miles, it took a hair over 3:40 and all that time, all I had was 1 bottle of water and a bottle of accelerade. Aside from a 500 calorie breakfast, that was all I had. According to my polar bike computer, I had used about 3000 calories on the ride but I didn't really feel all that wiped out or tired. The only difference I can think of is instead of gatorade, I used accelerade.. oh and a slight tailwind coming back (but half the way going to was into the wind). Usually I'm completely wasted if I don't eat anything.
I bet if I filled both bottles with accelerade and it's in the 70's so I'm sweating my ass off, 100 miles nonstop w/o refueling might be possible...
It must be that protein, bovine testoserone, and secret epo blend in the accelerade.

I like endurox a lot, but just couldn't handle the texture/density/flavor of accelerade on the bike. The hotter it got, the worse it got. The stuff is just very dense/syrupy.
I'll agree that it's great for some energy, though... I've since switched to HEED on the bike and love it.

Back when I did BJJ I discovered that protein + sugar drinks during workouts were MUCH better than just a sugar alone. I prefer to make my own, so I can tailor the protein/carb ratio. I like Gookinaid because it primarily uses glucose instead of fructose or sucrose, and I add a little Syntrax Nectar (insert your whey isolate of choice here) for a quick absorbing protein. I'm out of protein right now, and I can definitely tell a difference.

Crap... perhaps I should've asked before I bought a bucket of this stuff... It was only 75 degrees today so it stayed pretty watery. Definitely not as watery as gatorade, more like... tropicana orange juice (the type without pulp). It also had a slightly chalky after taste, very slight.
I mixed it with a handheld blender at low speed though, so everything was mixed in pretty consistently. If you just stir it, it's gonna be lumpy.

If you like it at 75 degrees you'll probably like it on really hot days too. I wasn't a big fan at any temperature.

HEED and Recoverite FTW!
I used to be an Accelerade junkie. I think the Hammer stuff is better tho.

Don't forget the poison wheat gluten that was diverted from the pet food factories.
I have done quite a few centuries with only liquid calories. It can be done if your stomach can take it.
One problem I was having is that I had enough energy and enough calories, but my stomach felt empty.
I think it was, I stopped for solid food just because of this. And like anything else, more centuries make it easier too.
Having a tailwind on the last half when you are tired can be a big, almost impossible to feel, benefit.

My problem with Accelerade was the nasty protein film it left in the bottles. That, and a very slight sour milk smell from the whey. Maybe I imagined that part. Anyway, I decided I could just eat some protein during rides instead.

I need to get myself something to take for recovery. I've been putting that off for far too long. And after the 50mi ride I did this morning, I'm certainly feeling its effects. As far as accelerade goes, I found it difficult to drink on the bike.

Hmm, i don't know about in-ride 4:1 carbs to protein, but post-ride recovery i swear by chocolate milk. Tastes great and has pretty close to that majic ratio. Maybe in the winter i'll fill my bottles with it .
I'll have to try accelerade. Which flavor's the best? I always like the light blue or yellow gatorade because its the lightest (watery, not sticky or heavy).

The group ride I did today was a straight up hammerfest by my standards and I downed a Recoverite as soon as I got back and I'm feeling no ill effects from the ride. I wasnt a big believer in the recovery drink mainly because I couldnt stand Endurox but since switching to Recoverite, it really does make a huge difference after a hard ride.

I've used Accelerade for about 5 years now. When I first bought it I couldn't stand it, it looked, and tasted like phlegm. Since I bought a huge container of the stuff, I thought I better figure out a way to drink it and on my first try I hit the jackpot. I mix one scoop of powdered Gatorade and 1 scoop of Accelerade in a 22 or 24 oz Polar bottle. When it's warm, I always add some ice. My favorite blend is Lemon Lime Acc mixed with Orange flavor Gator. For post ride recovery drink, I use Endurox in the fruit punch flavor.
I've found that I can cut way back in solid food using my formula. I eat when I'm hungry, usually a Clif bar sometimes a Gu or two. I also religiously drink a recovery drink, it makes a huge difference. When I know I'm riding long, a Century or so, I premix my formula and put it in those small zip lock snack bags. It takes up little room, and I always have the properly mixed fuel.

If you don't look like this, your Polar calorie estimate is optimistic.

I'm pretty sure that the estimates are accurate. During a normal work week I eat around 7-8 meals a day and I've yet to gain a pound, I even managed to lose some weight.

I would agree with your polar reading of 3,000 calories at least, your average was 19.09 mph.
If you have time, leave the bike bottle overnight filled with water and a drop of dish soap. It might
spray clean in the morning.
I want to be 22 again.

But no dice. The dishwasher couldn't even get rid of it. I had to use this thing rigged up to my cordless drill.
To those of you who are using the other drinks with protein in it, do they also have that nasty gunk in it after a ride?

Yeah, the nasty gunk is going to be a side effect of just about any drink with protein in it.
Perhaps you should look at the 6.02E23 threads about washing water bottles for more helpful hints.

You wanna see something really cool, leave your bottle in the trunk for a few weeks with Accelerade reside in it and then open it up to wash it. I've never seen mold in the rainbow of colors that produces.
Be prepared to throw said bottle in the trash
