Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Favorite (though I won't wear team jerseys):

So, I also love this one:

but so do all my college buddies, and one of them already has it.

so, I'm still looking for the coolest jersey I can actually wear,

but I would not be caught dead in:

I love America, but that jersey is just... yuck.

Seriously, what is with all this team jersey hating? I wear what I like and that includes a Rabobank.

Personal favorite is the FedEx jersey.

I don't mind wearing team jerseys if they look good, but I tend to avoid the Gerolsteiner jersey since I have the 2006 Specialized Roubaix in the Gerolsteiner colors and with the team decals.

I don't have a problem with other people wearing them, there's just this perception that some people have that you shouldn't wear them unless you're really that good. I just choose not to so no one scoffs at me. It's just a part of roadie culture, for better or worse.

Ahhhg, you are correct Botto! I saw the jersey in a BMC catalog, and I guess I just assumed that Phonak sponsored a continental team.

As it represents a jersey from 2006, it is not that of last year's champion, Gregory Rast, but the year before, Martin Elmfinger.

Ascona, 2006-06-16

Elmiger takes his champion's jersey out for another ride

On Wednesday Morabito, on Thursday Moos – and in the 7th stage of the Tour de Suisse from St. Moritz to Ascona it was Swiss Champion Martin Elmiger who took his champion's jersey out for another ride. The 28-year-old was part of an 8-rider lead group, which dictated the race over the Julier and Lukmanier passes to Ascona. However, Elmiger's gap was bridged with just a few kilometres to go, and Oscar Freire claimed the stage win with a three-second lead over Bennati and Zabel. Koldo Gil remains the overall leader.

https://www.phonak-cycling.ch/index.php?id=5&L=1&uid=235

When I wear out the Swiss Champ Phonak jersey, I can replace it with Rast's 2007 Astana Swiss Champ Jersey, which should also go great with a BMC.

I got the jersey at a bike shop in Newport Beach Ca in 1988. They sold Bianchi's and went inside to look and they had the full Alfa kit, gloves, hats, shorts and jerseys. I bought the jersey just to have it, at the time I hadn't even bought a bike yet. I ended up going back to get the Bianchi but the sales guy talked me out of it and sold me a Centurion Ironman instead.
Oh EDR, you are a good man. I bought my Alfa right before getting out of the Army in '89 and drove it for 3 years of college. I was pretty cool back then with my Italian sports car and steel Peugeot . Alas, it proved to be too expensive to maintain for a college kid. But I sure do wish I'd at least kept the Campy rims from my Alfa before selling it!

I moved from Boston to LA, then to Denver and Harpoon IPA is about the only thing I miss about the east coast. I've got one of these Harpoon jerseys and 2 other different styles. And if I can drag my azz to Boston on 6/16 and complete their B2B (Brewery to Brewery) tour, I'll have a 4th.

Also, I'm surprised none of you poseurs have posted this:

Guess my favorite jerseys are my California Republic and My Oatbran. My favorite tour ever. Across Nevada. Really , I have three. The other is my Stamp out cars with the circle and diagonal line thru a car.

My first Alfa exposure was meeting this guy who had a Giulia Super and he had a Bianchi on the roof. Man I feel in love with the car and the bike! My first car out of high school was '73 911T which I had for exactly 3 months. I took in for a tune up and it was going to cost more than months salary! The mechanic bought the car from me for what I paid or it and I bought a Scirroco.

Man, don't come riding in NYC: The only folks wearing Etxe Ondo here are the ones who are too poor to spring for full Assos kit. I have at least a half dozen cycling friends whose clothing during a typical ride cost more than my bike!

Favorite jersey that I own is the Arrogant Bastard Ale (by Canari), though if the R600DuraAce "Training Is For Wussy" design was available in a wicking fabric with rear pockets that would be a serious contender.

One I wouldn't be caught dead in? Anything that resembles "team" kit. I'd *much* rather be seen riding around in a Dark Side Of The Moon jersey than something that says "Discovery" or "Gerolsteiner" etc.

If the brand doesn't mean anything to you its toilet paper

I have this Bouygues Telecom kit and it looks realy good in person,

The Rapha race jersey is understated and tasteful, though I can't afford $200 for a jersey.

And as much as I like the rock, I can't stand those classic album cover jerseys and would never wear one.

I'd wear one of these, if it fit, which it doesn't:

These jerseys completely escape me, although/because I am old and crotchety:

As someone else noted, they look like my grandpa's socks.
