What software do you use with your Garmin Edge?
I will be getting a Garmin Edge 305 HR/CAD with extra cad for a second bike. Already ordered it online, just waiting for it to arrive.
I currently use Bikejournal.com, Cyclistats, and a spreadsheet I created. And Of course I enter all that data by hand.
All my current data come from a Cateye Astrale 8 and low end Polar HR moniter that does not do zones, only average for the time frame.
So what software are you using with your Edge and what does it offer? And what does it cost, if anything?
Thank you

Training Center, though I am always looking for a better solution. I've heard of SportTracks and MotionBased. Can't use ST because it doesn't accept the new file format, and MB cost monthly to view all files anytime. So I guess for now, I'll stick with TC...

That software owns. I just rode a century on Sunday and exported a KML file so I could load my route into google earth. Here's some images I saved off...

I dont see the big deal with SportsTracks. Maybe I need to use it more. I use Training Center and Motionbased.
To each his own I guess.

I like SportTracks, it does more than Training Center with the exception of overlays and creating courses. I like being able to track equipment usage and it has some very nice tools for looking at splits.
I've also use Motionbased but I just don't see the value in the monthly subscription price.

I am not a big fan of any of the software that allows for direct uploading from the Edge. I want an internet based "Training Log" that allows uploading, and that doesnt really exist.
MB is more a stats tracker, but its cool for sharing your rides and runs.
TC is basic and good for a backup.
ST is a nice training log, but not internet based and I prefer a calander view / based log.
For a training log the one in my sig is the best I have found. You can not upload workouts yet, but maybe soon.
Just my thoughts. Later.

I keep waiting for Cyclistats to add Garmin support. It was mentioned over a year ago that it would be added and it still hasnt happened. Once its available, that's probably what Ill go to.

If Cyclistats does put in Garmin support, then I would be very happy. So far when looking at some of the options mentioned here, the main thing Sporttrack and MB offer that I do not already have is the export to google earth.
I might use those just for that and really only for that.

I am a Mac user. I tried Training Center and MotionBased but settle on Ascent from Montebello Software. It's $35 and well worth it as it is vastly superior to anything else I tried. Sportstracks doesn't work on Macs but look very good as well.

I use Motion Based as my primary but keep all history in the Garmin Training Center on my PC. Motion Based won't accept indoor workouts without satelite data, therefore the indoor workouts need to be logged somewhere and that is where Training Center comes in handy. I do prefer MotionBased because of the detailed maps, satelite overlays and the ability to send data directly to google earth.

I use MB and Training Center....I really like MB...I might even pay for it later....if I find I want to look at an old ride I will pay for it....right now they store all my rides for free and I can even export the rides to a csv file. It exports all rides as well...the limit is not set at 10 ride for that....
I do use it to mostly share rides with friends...I like to look at what I have done and also plan new routes....the overhead sat map has been very helpful in doing this...
I dont really train...I dont race..I like to ride fast but all in all I just like to ride....ride like hell and have a few beers afterwards...

Training Center. Most for backups, creating routes and workouts
MB- Not worth the $$ IMO. I can't believe I cannot even compare 2 activities. But it is cool to share rides
ST- Installed it. Haven't used it much
I have been tempted to try CyclingPeaks WKO+ At $99 it isn't too expensive. It seems the "standard" for power based training. It supports the Edge. So it could be a decent solution that would grow if/when I move from HR to power based training.

Seriously, I've been working on the Garmin import feature this week, and hope to release an update within the next week or so that support "drag and drop" entry of your Training Center rides (by dragging and dropping the TC's .htx file into CycliStats).
I had hoped to provide a direct hardware interface, but: a) Garmin's interface specs are cryptic and not well documented, b) I've not had experience doing hardware interfaces, c) Garmin doesn't support the published specs, and reserves the right to change them at any time.

so what software do you use to upload rides into your garmin? just got one yesterday I suppose if I actually read the stuff that came with it I might already know the answer to this?

Ride it like you stole it
ST - direct import from Garmin, and it's donationware.
mrt10x - You still need Training Center to upload to the Edge.
