Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

and using them for the local road races/crits? Haha. Hey - I'm a sponsored rider! But seriously, do you think there is any kind of exposure for a business if you buy a custom jersey with a web site or logo on it for your small business?

If your question is, will a business get MORE business as a result of being a sponsor for a bike team, my guess is not much. Most people I know that sponsor are riders or enthusiasts of some type. Hopefully, riders and family, etc, try to patronize businesses that spend money on the sport.

Like bike shops.

Which cracks me up when I read the posts about using internet services that are not local, then reading posts about needing money for a bike team.

In the business that I own, if I sponsored a team it would be for fun.

My business was a sponsor for a non-profit that ran several events. Logo was everywhere. One gets very little business from this. I do it so I don't have to give it to the government.

I agree. I've considered having "team" jersey's made with my company's logo on it just for fun and perhaps even inspire others in our office to ride. We're not great riders but proud of the fact that we ride- and if I can get a group going in our office I think it would be a blast.

Marketing wise- I also think it would be a great photo op. ALL of the staff photos we post on our web site are of people doing something other than work. I like to show people that we're human beings with real lives- not just pencil pushers sitting behind a desk all day.
