Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BF Group Hug. What I love about BF'ers.

Yesterday I observed that I wasn't feeling the BF Love on some of these threads. Time for the BF Group Hug. I will begin with a few of my favorite BF'ers:

Botto: He has given us 'correct' and 'incorrect' along with 'You Disappointed Bongo'. Enough said.

Dr. Pete: His rational and helpful posts about racing are a tonic to the rampant BS that permeates BF. Thank you Dr.

Cypress: What can you say? Without Cypress this place would friggin suck.

Blonduathlongrl: She compared my legs to a 17 year old's. I love her now.

Killer Penguin: Anyone that skinny can't be all bad.

Ryanf: If he's real, fine. If he's a hoax, better.

Chipcom: The Mother of all Freds. You gotta have one of those.

Smoothie104: The resident Racing Bull***** Detector.

BDCheung: in·scru·ta·ble Pronunciation: in-'skrü-t&-b&l adjective: not readily investigated, interpreted, or understood : MYSTERIOUS <an inscrutable smile>

There are many others, but it's 7AM here in NY. Time to go ride.

And let's not forget Patentcad, who reminds us that cycling (and all of our weenie schwag obsessive madness) is WAY too serious to be taken seriously.

I think about 6-10 of you represent 70% of the sales for the entire bike industry.

There should be a schwag Hall of Fame in Bicycle Retailer Magazine.

As a member of that industry, at least on a part-time basis, we thank you!

As an aside, on today's ride I will be listening to Hall & Oates' 'Our Kind of Soul', which is proof that white men CAN actually jump.

The conservatism of your estimate is appreciated, but it may be more like 80%+, with Dr. Pete and I accounting for half of that.

I remember right after I bought my bike, I thought it was pretty expensive and schwag-tastic. All it takes is one or two threads to blow that out of the water.

Reading BF is for schwag addicts what watching the Jerry Springer show is for normal people. Just when you think you have problems, you can just watch a few minutes of it and realize that there are plenty of people in the world with much bigger problems than your own.

You must put yourself on that list patentcad for the hours of entertainment you provide and, as already noted, the boost you provide to our economy.

Now that's not the intent of this thread. It's like a hug with a slap in the face. No ride for me this morning, baby shower has brought family in town.

As your mother, this touchy, feely, warm shower, kumbuya stuff from you this morning is worrisome to me, pcad. Maybe you need some time off the bike to relax and do some interior decorating?

BDG, you are such a great person. A ray of sunshine with humor and expertise, and just enough of an edge to put the haters in their place.
