Basso quits Disco...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Basso quits Disco...

Did anyone see this yet: Basso leaves Disco...

Looks like he is quitting the team out of respect for the team as a whole. With his case gaining steam again it looks like he is removing himself so that he won't be a distraction.

I guess Levi is back to the #1 spot at the TdF for the team. Although it didn't look like the Tour organizers were going to let Basso ride anyway.

In other news: the witch hunt continues! The Spanish authorities are poised to re-open the Puerto case and have found another 50+ riders that could be implicated! The mess continues...

Wow. I'm sorry to hear Basso's gone, but it's an ill wind that blows no one any good--Levi *is* sitting pretty now.

I find something wrong with using the name "Levi" and the word "pretty" in any sentence.

He's a handsome guy except for his egghead cranium revealed by his premature baldness. He's a great candidate for a toupeé.

What does Doc Pete's saddle have to do with Levi's bald head?

He could have ridden a Toupe while he was still riding with a team sponsored by Specialized.

Dang... who's good at photoshop... put a Toupe on Levi's head! hehe!

Sorry... I guess someone beat me to the punch on this story...

But with Basso not having done a lot thus far in terms of placing well in races he has raced and the depth of Disco do you think it'll change much for the team this year? There was a real possiblity for Basso not riding in the TdF if the Tour Organizers had their way.

I guess we'll see what happens once this soap opera gets under way again!

One thing is for certain...if last year was any indication, and if Levi ends up the leader and doesn't burn PooPoo out making him haul his lead butt up the hills then PooPoo could do some very dynamic things this year.

Not if he left several bags of evidence behind.... Just an opinion mind you, I've been watching the Tour since Greggie's days and sorry.... no class in cheating....I don't care how many do it to compete, if they ALL do it then there is no honor in the great sport anymore.

So, in your moral scheme, its possible to use drugs which are both illegal, and against the rules, misrepresent that fact to your prospective employers, lie to the public, and still be a class act?

Personally I find those things to have some bearing on the question of what constitutes class.

So cheating is still a class act? What's not a class act then?
