I'm excited

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm excited

I have a race coming up in June. I will resister this week. It is a road race. I'm excited and there are not many races here. I have more than a month until the race. How should I prepare to crush souls? I don't think I will have a chance in a sprint because a 53x15 is toooo small for any sprinting. Maybe I sould go 5k out? Do I need to get a physical to race? How sould I prepare? I'm going to be a bike racer. Hear that BIKE RACER. Thanks,RyanF

Bike racers are the lowest form of scum on the planet. This is ironic because they think they are some elite breed of highly tuned athlete, yet they are actually addicted to a dangerous, demanding and painful sport that offers little in return and requires an inordinate amount of pricey ELS (Expensive Lightweight S***). They are boneheads.

Welcome to the club kid. Clearly, you'll fit right in.

You dont need a physical. Do you have a USCF licence? if not your parents will need to sign a waiver at the race. And as dissapointing as this sounds, your'e gonna need to spin a little, thats just part of being a junior.

53X15 isn't bad; I thought you weren't allowed even that gear. It's 25 MPH at 90 RPM. If you're in the JR race, everyone's going to have the same gear anyway.

Good luck with the race. You'll be able to go plenty fast with a 53x15. Everyone else will be limited to the same gear so as long as you have the most power and endurance you will come out on top.

I think juniors are allowed up to the equivalent of a 52-14.

ryanf. Think like a man. Uh. Just think logically. Don't mess up your knees this young. You think they'll be fine, but that injury, which you don't even notice at your tender age, will come back to haunt you. Then you'll be like every second or third poster here in Road Cycling, beechting at the young upstarts, and only because they can't compete anymore. And if you don't believe me, go ahead! Mash like hell now, before your body matures enough to tell you not to!

My God, what is that smell? Oh.
That's the smell of desire my lady.
God no, it smells like, like a used diaper... filled with... Indian food. Oh, excuse me.
You know, desire smells like that to some people

53x12 is not really big for me vegavixen. Mashing is not bad for your knees. Spinning causes heavy breathing and O2 corrodes your body with freeradicals so spinning is way worse.
