Shifter Question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shifter Question

I'm thinking about this bike, but it seems to have two different shifters? The shifter for the front dr has a silver cover that says Shimano 105 in yellow writing. The shifter for the rd says flight deck and has a black cover. What is the difference between these two shifters and should it matter? They're both supposed to be 105.

Thanks for your help - I didn't have any luck on the shimano website or with google. I tried to upload pictures I took of them but that didn't work.

Flightdeck is Shimano's integrated computer that ties in with the shifters and RD showing a gear indicator on the computer screen along with other data. The RD is probably 105 too.

They are just two different years of 105. They will work fine.

Are there are random parts on it? Could be chop-shopped... seen a lot of those around lately. Bunch of stolen bikes, parts swapped, people have a hard time proving it's their stolen parts because everything's been switched.

Thanks. So they're both 105 shifters; its just that one is flight deck compatible and the other on isn't. Is it usual to have two difference 105 shifters. Thanks again.
