Completed my 1st Metric Century - the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge
Yesterday I rode in my first cycling event, the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge in Chattanooga, TN.

I rode the metric century which was the longest ride I have ever taken. I pulled up Suck Creek Mountain with no problem. I had tried this mountain a few weeks ago and got kind of depressed because I couldn't make it to the top. A few weeks of training made a big difference.
The ride started at 8:00 am in light rain. By the time we got to the mountain (about 10 miles), it had cleared off. The skies remained cloudy all day and kept the temperature at or below 70 degrees. I felt like I could have ridden 100 miles but I could not have pulled the other two mountains included in the century.
There was a great turnout despite the rain. There were over 2400 cyclists registered. It was amazing to see them all lined up and be right in the middle of the pack.
Now I can't wait until my next event! And next year I will do the century in the 3 State!

I was there too for my 2nd metric, 1st at 3 state. I must say I was impressed with the whole event, short of the 2" rainfall from about 3 am until the start. Hope to see you there next year.

Congratulations on the metric!! On the other hand, you cut the ride short just as it started to get fun...the Burkhalter climb on the 100 mile route was absolutely painful!

I'm in my 3 State 3 Mountain T-Shirt now!!! I did the full century and EARNED the shirt!
Congrats! Next year I hope to be there and make better time than this year. This ride has given me a new vigor to lose that FAT, I'm still runing on the high from that ride!
