Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Remember that guy who rode 85 hours...

...on a stationary bike? Well, he didn't. During his Guinness world-record breaking attempt, volunteers committed simple arithmetic and time-reading errors which invalidated the man's 85-hour ride. Full story at https://www.newsday.com/news/nationwo...orld-headlines

On a positive note, when he tries again it will raise more money for an excellent charity.

Still sucks, though.

"And he's planning to try again this summer, hoping to hit 101 hours over four days."

Man, you just can't make this stuff up.

About 40 volunteers took turns logging Hood's efforts, but they made addition and subtraction mistakes and had trouble reading a 24-hour clock, Guinness officials said.
Pathetic....He needs to find volunteers that passed kindergarten or at least attended.

how hard is it to preplan ? If you are starting at noon on monday, and want to ride 85 hours, you stop at 1 AM on Friday morning. All they had to do was tell the volunteers to say stop at 1 Am on Friday.

And my girlfriends' son wondered why I would refuse to let him use a calculator in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL to do math work.

Yes...in like 4th-5th grade. Pathetic.
