Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am always recruited; however, during the week I am doing my club races, and then on the other days, recovering; so I rarely put in any commutes! Always befuddles and upsets our Bike to Work Week coordinators. It's great to see the enthusiasm with which this event is embraced in my community...even if negotiating the schooling Freds can be somewhat of a hassle!

My city had a Bike to Work Day on April 20. I didn't know about it and started my rides on the 25th. Oops.

Same here. Free coffee n' food at a couple of locations. https://www.bfw.org/btww/mkecalendar.php

I do it every year by default. The free coffee is great, though.

LOL i have that whole week off! i ride my bike to my one job & drive to the other. the reason i don't ride to that one is because the route is a very dangerous section of roads.

Here in Chattanooga we have a Bike to Work breakfast the first Friday of every month from May - October. I took part in my first one of those last Friday. I plan to bike to work (16.5 miles one way) every Wednesday and Friday while the weather is nice.

Columbia, SC is having a bike to work day on May 18 and I plan to ride that day. Of course, they're having some "official ceremony" downtown that morning, but I'll skip that.

But, I've got it easy, office is only 4 miles from home.

I normally ride to work 3-4 days a week. Next week, however, I am off, as I almost always am during national bike to work day. The joy of working at a university.

I will still ride my commute. However, I will be replacing a 4 mile MUP with streets that day. I have never realized how disconcerting it is trying to avoid riders who can barely stay upright or take the entire trail while chatting. Normally I use this trail due to the fact it is generally empty and heads through very busy \ badly maintained streets. Not that day.
I'm just not very big on the whole idea.

I drop off my 7 year old at school so I won't be participating. I was thinking about buying a trailer but I probably wouldn't be using it enough to justify the cost.
