King's Tour of Quabbin: Saturday, June 9, 2007
Ride 62, 100 or 125 miles from Naquag School, Route 122A, Rutland, Mass. $10, no pre-registration, pay at the start.
I had posted a while back about BF Members getting together for a ride. After some discussion we decided central Mass would make the most sense so riders from NY, NH, RI and points elsewhere could attend.
The ride is hilly and the roads can be rough in spots, but it's a very pretty ride to say the least. The event will be held rain or shine; last year it rained so I tossed on a set a Race Blade fenders. I've gotten a very late start on the season so I'm still finding my legs, however I will be there hands down. Due to time constraints and lack of fitness, I’ll more than likely ride the 62mile route. There's only one rest stop on the 62 mile route, about 24 miles in so you can start out light if you choose. Just be sure to take enough onboard for the remaining 38 miles.
I know this is a bit short notice, but chime in if you think you can make it.

Keep on climbing
I never miss this ride. I'll probably be doing the double-metric version (at least I hope to), and I am slow, so I will be starting early.
Note to anyone considering the 100 / 125 mile options: the 100 mile route contains a 20 mile very hilly stretch on the same road. Not only do you not turn, there is no place to turn even if you wanted to! It's physically and mentally taxing, which is why most people think the 125 route is actually easier then the 100 route is.
Note 2 for 100 / 125 mile option riders: there are only two "official" rest stops, one at mile 24, and the other at mile 80 / 100. There are country stores on route, so be prepared to "make your own stops".

I've also heard the 125 was easier, but I don't think I have that much climbing in my legs yet. I'll be doing the CRW Spring Century (reasonably flat) this weekend so it'll be a good test.

I would as I've wanted to do the Quabbin tour for a while, but I've got a 600K to ride on that day.
