My newly acquired Battaglin frame which I finally got round to building up, but its not quite what I was hoping for. As soon as I can find them, I'll be replacing the following:
1. Wheels. Ventos work nicely, but some more traditional non-G3 looking wheels would be better.
2. Handlebars. Couldn't for the life of me find silver handlebars, although I have seen them on ebay - will get round to replacing ...
3. Seatpost. Ditto as with the handlebars - no silver around.
4. Hoods. Black hoods and white bar tape just look odd, so I've ordered a set of white Hudz for campy.
She rides like a dream, by the way - very comfy and surprisingly light and fast up the hills...

This is mine and my favorite -- Kona but I was told that this was a rebadged cinelli frame and the BB has the Cinelli stamp -- Columbus Genius tubing, Campy 8 speed (record and chorus), Mavix SUP tubular rims with record hubs, I have Campagnolo wheels with it too but they are so light and frail looking, I don't use them except when racing.... I know they are tough but the SUPs hold true for a long time...
Not light as most bikes here but the Campy 8 speed is really a good shifting system compared to my Shimano 9 on my trek... horses are French (Percheron) and Belgian drafts.

Selling the Schwinn :-(. It doesn't fit anymore, but it was fun to ride. Please note I usually ride clipless, this is the for sale picture.

Here's my 84 Trek 760 with suntour superbe. The bike is full reynolds 531P tubing. It's amazing!
I've shortened the RD housing and fixed the brake housing since these pictures.
I'm going to be building it up with campy in the very near future and I'll post pictures after the upgrade.
It's got superbe pedals, brakes, shifters, brake levers, crank and FD.
P.S. PM me if you're looking to buy the superbe stuff that's on here.

I've just ordered the hudz today - the cheapest I could find them with shipping to the UK was a shop in the US - $72. I am officially a mug with money to burn.

Here is my contribution:
Late '90s Guerciotti made from Columbus SL and equipped with 1999 Campy Veloce. It replaced a 1987 Trek 560 Pro with 105 (Biopace version). I wish I had held on to that frame. It would have been fun to upgrade it a bit.

here is one of mine, all original apart from the saddle and inner tubes. Has toe clips on it with yellow christophe straps now as well.

I had a Guerciotti, it was white with fluro orange at all the tube joins, had a chrome columbus fork, mix of campy and ofmega, down tube shifters etc. I leant it to someone in the late 90's and it never came back.
here is one of the others too. Only other steel I have is 80's bmx and a KTM touring bike (which is bits at the moment).
It's a mix of 10-9 speed record. I would really really like a record ti seatpost for this bike..... anyone?

Cheers, I think.
It's a bit whippy to ride, the head tube shakes like a coconut being a farmgate 61cm frame.
nice for a cruise though every now and then.

Here’s my latest build. It comes in at 18.8 lbs. It is a pure delight to ride, very nice for long hauls. It’s a perfect compliment to my other Colnago which is a 60cm Dream. The Dream is just a tad lighter, a whole lot stiffer, a bit quicker, but not anywhere near as fun to ride over long distances. When I want to go short and fast I’ll ride the Dream, when I want to go long the Master Light will be my choice.
Colnago Master X Light 58cm
Campagnolo Record QS shifters, Chorus brakes
Chorus Carbon 53/39 crankset
Chorus Derailleurs
Record 11-23 cassette
Record hubs/Mavic Open Pro rims, Vredestein Superlight clincher tires
Look KEO carbon pedals
Chorus carbon seatpost
Brooks Swift saddle
E3 E-curve carbon handlebars
ControlTech stem
Forte carbon cages

It's been posted already, but not in this thread. Powdercoated Friday, built Friday evening, tested on the trainer Friday night. This pic was taken Saturday on a very hilly ride around the mountain.

How comes all these bikes look new? Surely most steel bikes must be from the 1990's or earlier like mine. Mine is well look after and only riden on weekends and never left outside but it still looks well used...stickers coming off, scratches and paint chips especially near moving parts and near wheels. What's the secret to keeping steel bikes looking like new?

The OP features an 853 steel bike with carbon fork.
I also have 2 other older, all steel bikes. They are great rides, I actually ride them quite a bit. But they weigh a ton. This bike is 18lbs and a couple ozs. To me, it's the best of tradition and modern tech.

Some of them I am sure, have been repainted/redecaled. Or partly so.
Some of them were probably garage finds that were bought by the first owners with good intentions, then left to sit while the owner watched tv and got fat.
Some of them are owned by neat freaks with o.c.d.
Some of them, well, just don't look too close.
Mine, some are repainted, some are slightly dirty, some are clean, all have scratches, chips or faded paint.

The Colnago Master is about 10 years old. The paint is in great shape for a Colnago. Most of the parts on it are brand new, or very lightly used, so it's easy to fool the eye in to thinking it's a new bike, rides like one.
