Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

D.C. area groups

Hi all-

I'm new to bikeforums and Washington, D.C. I was wondering if there are any weekday groups and where they might congregate in the city (where I live and work.) I'm looking for cat 3/4 types who race.

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a good place to start, and covers most of the local race-oriented rides...

https://www.gamjams.net/2007/03/the_great_group.html

IIRC there's usually a 6PM ride on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Hains Point.

Welcome to the area!

Potomac Pedalers (https://www.bikepptc.org/) has what I'm sure is a brisk Monday morning ride out of Glen Echo (DC/Bethesda MD border), and has wide range of rides generally listed on their website.
