Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not a damn clue: photos were stolen from RBR, who stole it from a shop in the Netherlands.

UCI sets the minimum weight at 15.0 lbs (6.8Kg) so assume that it's in the neighborhood of that.

Although I think we'll see a 10, and maybe even an 11... I think the bell now tolls for the CAAD's...

Goodbye CAAD. You'll be missed.

Nope...as long as they are sponsoring US domestic teams that have to do crits, they'll have an ultra stiff CAAD frame, as least for the forseeable future.

Straight from Cannondale.

BTW, the Super Six does not replace the System Six. Cannondale caved to market demand for a "race bike" that's all carbon. And when I say "caved" that's not a bad thing. But selling these things, there's a market for a full carbon bike and for guys that think they are not a candidate for a "more relaxed geometry bike" like a Synpase.

Super Six is made in Bedford.

Explaining Six/13's and System Six's to some people...well, it's like splitting atoms..

The fat head tube appears to be shared by this new carbon bike, but we'll have to wait and see the bike in person, maybe it's not quite as fugly. To be competitive, this frame would have to weigh 1000 grams or less by the way, which is quite probable. Cdale gets it right with bike designs, how much you want to bet this new frame is all that?

I've got one, and the extra size in the head tube it for stiffness and lighter weight. They also made the steerer larger to add stiffness, and it does. I have the carbon stem, and while it's big (most are) it's really light.

Personally, I have a standard stem (Deda Newton) on mine with a standard stem fit kit. The steerer will take a standard stem and spacers, but Cannondale makes a kit so that a standard stem won't look goofy and it will fit right.

i'm aware of why it's so large, i'm just not a fan of the aesthetics of it. it's not brand specific: i don't like the looks of scott CF bikes either.

See, I'm just the opposite. I don't care what it looks like, only that it works. I run into that in fittings all the time. "But it looks goofy." "Yes, but you picked up a hundred watts and your back and shoulders don't hurt anymore."

Artist versus engineer.

don't get me wrong. i couldn't care less about most of that stuff, but it's so damn beefy. another bike that i find fugly because of the head tube is Isaac.

I have never been a fan of Cannondale, but I like that, it's cool.
Maybe because it's exclusive at the moment, I can be a bit of snob about stuff.
But I like it. Double thumbs up to Cannondale for making an all carbon race bike.

as far as the artist vs. engineer thing, it seems to me that my eye for aesthetics flows from what i perceive as functionality or performance. for example, i think those si cranks are the cat's pajamas, but most people think they are pug fugly. the thomson seatpost - not a pretty carbon weave, but looks cool to me with the way it sort of eases its way onto the bike. people seem to hate the look of shallow bars, but i use those, and it is also what i think looks the best of any bar. etc. i am even beginning to come around on those nasty specialized roval hubs.

Super Six is made in Bedford.

I still contend that Cannondale caved (sic) to market demand for an all carbon bike that's made in America. They *could* have simply aggressively marketed (or "repurposed") the Synapse as a "race bike" when they came out with the 2007 SL versions if they only needed a full carbon "race bike". The number of guys that think they are not a candidate for the "more relaxed geometry" of a Synapse and that actually *aren't* a candidate for a Synapse can probably be counted on one hand. But the number of Americans that really truly do want an all carbon bike that proudly sports "made in USA" on its seatstays is apparently huge.

I don't understand Cdale's whole marketing concept. It would appear that all the marketing hype for the Six 13, and Sytem Six regarding the superiority of Al for the rear triangle contradicts the premise of the Supersix.

I looked into buying a SystemSIX frame for a project, but after learning that it "prefers" proprietary Cannondale crank, I gave up.

There's not a person on this forum who could outperform a Synapse SL... more relaxed than the SystemSIX or not, it'll still hold it's own as a pro-level racer... Quinziato and Petito use it more or less exclusively.

Um that is a bit silly...first off the Cannondale crank is one of the best on the market...as smooth as a square taper Campy Record but lighter and stiffer than a Shimano DA...and that was the old version, there is a new SL version of the Si hollowgram crank that is 60g lighter than the original version.

Also there is a simple press in adapter which makes the Si BB frames fully compatible with any standard crankset.
