Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jamis Quest/Eclipse frame size help

Looking at the geometry numbers for these bikes, it looks like they run a little larger than other manufacturers? Longer top tube and standover height for the same frame size compaired to a Trek. Is anyone riding one and can you comment on this?

With a 28.75 inseam at 5'5" most calculators put me at a 48-49 frame size and the Jamis models come in 47 and 50. Unfortunately no LBS close has either size in stock for me to test ride.

Thanks

I have two Eclipse bikes 1997 all steel and 2004 carbon/steel. Traditional geometry. Jamis Eclipse comes in a 49 frame size and with no other info on how you are built(arm length, etc.) it will fit you. Is this your bike inseam or pant inseam? The 97 is a 51cm frame and it has a 30.5 inch standover. The 49cm frame on the carbon/steel Eclipse has a 29 standover, but it is at my house so I can not measure to give an exact number. Great bike, you will be happy with the Eclipse. Can not comment on the Quest.

It is my inseam, not pants size.

Thanks for the feedback.
