    Sweet pic.
Yep 06 veloce. With the shiftmate it works surprisingly well, I thought it would take alot of tweaking to make it work. It was virtually plug & play, I just need to adjust the low limit screw and it's done. I haven't tried the trim yet, it works well so far without any rubbing.

And yes, you can still do the multiple shift thing.

    And a quick review:

    Loving:
Clean look, the paddle shifters, the brake release thing on the levers, multi-shift ability. And my favourite : the micro-indexing of the front derailler.

    Hates:
The "unrefined" shifting. I actually miss the smooth shift of the Sora , the shifters gave a "clunk" feel when going to the smaller cog/ring. Is that how it is or I did I get a crappy unit?

    Aha! That's awesome!

What a great way to do Campy on a budget. I should buy some Campy shifters for my older bikes. Which model Shiftmate did you use? I can't find the one under the charts on their website (Campagnolo 10 speed shifter + Shimano RD + Shimano 8 spd cassette).

And yep, I call it the "Campy Clunk". Campy shifts are a lot more visceral, or 'passionate' if you're a real fanboy. Shimano is a lot more subtle with each shift; you get a nice click. I always thought it was the derailleur that was responsible for the difference in feel, but I guess that the shifter plays a part in it too. For the record, I've owned both Sora and Veloce.

After one or two thousand miles they 'break in' and become a lot smoother. That's the meaning behind the saying "Campy breaks in while Shimano breaks". Not sure how much truth there is to that in reality, but you get the picture.

    Cool!

    The New Machine.

Trek Madone 5.2 SL 62cm Triple, with the Mavics I already owned. Full Ultegra, except Trek must have been out of stock of rear derailleurs, and put on a Dura Ace. Deda "Supernatural" 46cm bars and Deda Newton 140mm stem. Cat Eye double wireless computer. Serfas Terrazo saddle. Speedplay SS Frogs.

Very sweet ride. My inner Fred LOVES the mirror, so no wisecracks.

    Old Reliable.

2003 Trek 1500 63cm Triple, with Race XLite wheels grafted from the new Madone. Ultegra/105 mix 9 speed. Thompson post. Campy seatpost collar. Serfas Terrazo saddle. Frogs. Special "Election 2006" decals.

For when it's too hot and the carbon fiber would melt, or it's too cold and the carbon fiber gets brittle and breaks. (Actually, I think this is going to be mostly for plane-based travel.)

DeRosa w/ Columbus SLX and Campy C-Record. I ordered a new bike in October and will be picking it up this weekend. It is a DeRosa Corum (I like steel) with Campy '07 Record group and Eurus tubular wheels

I posted my Nishiki when I got it, but it's so different now I figured that would be my excuse for posting it again. Plus it's my favorite bike.

#2. The 10spd Campy to 9 speed Shimano. Then I use the "Sheldon trick" to make it work with my 8 spd cassette.

DrPete: How are you liking the saddle?

You'll have to bring that beauty over my place for a proper picture in front of a white garage door. I would of course want a quick ride around the community in exchange.

voltman,Yes those wheels are a BIG upgrade the Bike comes with Kysiriums Equipes, you need to pass the Elites, the SL's to get to the top from Kysirium and those are the ES "limited edition" which are the ones you see on my Bike.

Thanks! The cranks are Suntour, but I can't remember which model off the top of my head and I'm not near the bike at the moment.

Your bike is just drop dead gorgeous! Not being pretentious is one of it's beautiful features and so refreshing to see. A bike with a soul.

Hehe... Thanks. When the engine is up to the task she's an absolute joy to ride. The Pinarello handling really makes you want to go fast, and knowing that the bike is more than up to the task is a real confidence boost. I'm so happy with the way the build turned out, and I feel more confident in fast riding/racing conditions. So while the bike didn't make me faster, it makes me want to get faster.
