Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was looking for an entry level road bike and found the Felt F85. The MSRP seemed decent at $1100. I purchased one today except my LBS sold it for $899 + 20% accessories. Ignore the crap pedals. Those were thrown in for free since they were sold out of any decent pedals I could afford. Going back Friday to purchase pedals+shoes.

Anyway, here are some pics from my first ride with it:

pretty boring shot, but I thought I'd post my first roadie - 08 Specialized Tarmac Elite Compact

taken with the iphone

I need new cages - thinking I'm going to get the specialized rib cages - just not sure what color - white or black. I have about 250 miles on it so far and am loving it.

Holy saddle tilt, Batman! Is that really comfortable?

Otherwise, nice bike!

I know! The LBS was sold out of pedals that I wanted, and they said they would have more in on friday. The discount is worth it to me to wait 2 days to hopefully get the pedals and shoes at a decent price. Trust me, new pedals are coming on friday haha.

without a doubt the best bike I have seen on herein a while. Nice choice of colors. I would lose the red bar tape for black or white. brilliant.

bit the bullet

Today.. I finally did it.

06 model, brand new, all 105 hardware, cane creek brakes
I've been early morning riding with friends on a mountain bike. They won't know where I am now that they can't hear me coming!

Does anyone have suggestions on getting that warning sticker gunk off? I've used the old tricks like soaking it with oil or alcohol.

Goo gone was suggested by one of my friends but I am without it tonight. I tried the packing tape and it worked really well. Thank you!

Also, put some clipless pedals on there, that way you can climb w/ your friends too

The Mrs. and I are full on roadies now. Hybrids are in the shed, saved for family rides and gravel roads.

Pair of Specialized Sequoias- don't even ask me what componants...all stock. It will do us fine for a couple years.

I recently got Orbea Aqua with 105 components. Been on a couple of short rides and I love it. Upgrades include Look Keo Sprint (White/Black), Pro Handlebar/Stem and Specialized bottle cage. I want to upgrade my crankset (came with FSA Gossemar), but not sure what/when

I got this bad boy $8 w/shoes at a garage sale. I add a seat bag, 2 cages, and a computer. I looking to puck up some new tires pretty soon cause these are in semi-bad shape.
