What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What are the big gains from Sport to Elite?

To me the road vibration felt a little better with the Elite on bumpy roads. I guess the only differences for the price increase is the E5 frame (over the A1 on the Sport), carbon seatstays, and the tires

Well, just called the shop. They have a Allez Sport that came in with my name on it. Going to go take it for a quick test ride this afternoon and then make the jump.

Hi

I have a Trek 2.1, this is my first Road Bike and I love it. Even though it has poor Components (105 Rear D, Tiagra Shifters and Front D) i still love especially because it has a unique color. I'm planning to buy some Shimano pedals and shoes. It is a mens frame though, in 54. I'm a High School Student accelerating to become a full-time biker after my life is in place. And i start with this bike

Tiagra/105 is hardly "poor" unless you're a weight junkie, enjoy the thing and don't worry about it.

Is that a Koi way of saying you are a female?
I was close to purchasing the same bicycle (but a 56cm), but decided on a local deal of a used bike. A suggestion would be keep riding the bike as it is and once a part fails, purchase a better component. Gives you time to save the money and not to be seen as a person who relies on the bike, but your own strength.

Got this off Craigslist in late April for $300. I looked around for a while and looking back on it, seems like it was a little expensive but in my opinion it was worth it. What do you think? Came with everything you see except the water bottle. Those are Mavic CXP 30s and Veloflex tires. The seat (or saddle as they are called) is also pretty nice. Weighs around 26 pounds (aluminum frame).

Raleigh Technium Tri-Lite 50 cm (Can anybody guess the year?)

Test rode it. Loved it. Bought it.

Rode it 12 miles today. Still love it.

There's a good chance I'm addicted.

Without a picture, it's kinda hard to care.

But I'm glad you like your invisible bike.

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow. Camera was dead today, and honestly, riding took priority over pics for you bike porn fetishists.

It's my first road bike, as mentioned up thread. Allez Sport, 2009 in black. Standard as yet, so pics are easy to find.

Want to make sure that I unflip the stem, put the wheel reflectors and the gear guard thingy back on, and paint the garage door white before I post it here.

Edit: Ah. I see that the standard "reply" function doesn't automatically quote. My bad. Was quoting an earlier post...I thought.

Would have noticed that earlier, but recently back from a trip to the in-laws that was only made bearable by the presence of beer...

Got myself a nice Alan Record

Here with a wheelset ((clincher) Giant used with their MCR One / MCR Two bikes in 1997/1998. Frontwheel has a FIR rim and the rearwheel a slightly heavier Rigida DP 18 rim.
Got also a Mavic CPX 33 wheelset (clincher) and a Mavic GP4 wheelset (tube)

Those wheels are dope looking, but from performance point of view they are terrible.

Bob Jackson Full Campy Record

Here is the best new old bike I've ever owned. It has most all parts Nuovo Record. It is 34 years old and looks new. Really light and fast...

That Bob Jackson looks very sweet. Could you post any more complete bike pics? Although I drooled at your post, I don't think I could live with those old school brake cables that exit the hoods skyward. I would defile it with modern shift/brake combination levers and route the brake cables under the bar tape. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Sweet ride.

Ok...it did remind me of a story, years ago I was riding with a guy and we got to talking about the technium's...this is when they first showed up. The guy I was riding with rode on sew-ups. As we were talking, he said "I don't think I would be comfortable riding a bike that was glued together"....to which I replied, "hey, aren't your tires glued on your rims?". He never said anything...just kept on riding. The moral of the story now.....I don't think I'd be riding on sew-ups glued on 20 years ago...but your bike looks like it's still going strong! I always thought the high-end frames were really nice looking.

Techniums are glued together? YIKES! It rides nice though (as far as I know, its my first road bike) so I guess I'll just ride it to the ground or until I need an upgrade. What year do you think it is? Any guess would be nice. Thanks!

This is a stock photo I found someplace, but it is the exact bike. As soon as I can get a day of sunshine where I live I'll replace this photo with one of my actual bike.

Great ride, that.

Looks like 7-speed "Tri-color" Ultegra...and I'm guessing those are 7-speed RSX shifters? Probably late 80's. The first Technium bikes Raleigh put out was in 1986. Here is a little Raleigh history..

https://www.mombat.org/Raleigh.htm

Oh, and yes they are "glued"...really they are bonded with a super-duper bonding agent. But this is not new technology at all, lot's of industries use bonding to put two dissimilar materials together. For example, the heat shield panels on the bottom of the space shuttle..."glued" on. But I do not recommend atmospheric re-entry on your bike.
