What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Didn't you hear the chain screaming when you took the picture? That's some serious crosschaining.

But besides that, me being a Giant lover... Very nice!

Which is why I am confused. When the 2010 Defy 2 inherited the blue scheme, wasn't it slightly changed?

That's a defy 2

and that's a defy 3

White - silver difference I guess

I'm in Canada, it's indeed different from the states, we have defy 1,2,3,4 with different color themes and spec I think. Your defy 3 2010 is our defy 4 2010, and we have the defy 3 which is a sora group'd one, This year our defy 3 changed to yellow, probably to avoid any further confusion, I think our defy 1,2 are the same tho.

I've got silver FSA Vero Crank arms and rings, black brake levers on my 2300 group, and the factory mistake carbon seat post. I like your black Vero crank arms and rings. Looks to me with those differences and ones I've seen in the past, all on stock bikes, the bike build must depend on who shows up for work in the factory that day.

how did you get the crank upgraded without a price change on the F5? or did you already have those?

I used that as a selling point when I sold Giants. This years Defy 3 is extra special... they accidentally sent them out with carbon posts.

Just crossed 1400 miles on my newish bike and finally snapped first pics. Entry level I picked up in January and she's been doing great. Tad bit heavy though at 24.6lbs, with everything pictured minus water bottles, according to the bathroom scale.

Nice bike! My early 1980s Ciocc San Cristobal was a pro-peleton worthy bike in her day and weighs about 22 pounds. The lightest CF bikes are a whopping 7 or so pounds lighter. Big deal. Unless you're an elite cyclist at the top of your game, it is a lot easier (and cheaper) to lose seven pounds off your gut/butt than off your bike.

Yup, couldn't agree more. I would be more worried if I had a few extra pounds and was having trouble losing it, but weighing 138lbs gives me some extra room! Figure I'm still lighter or in the same ballpark than most with the expensive bikes, just because of my actual weight.

Hate to bust your bubble but 7 pounds on a bike is a big deal. The difference between climbing with 7 extra pounds is very noticeable whether it is on your bike or your waist.

but after you lose those 7 lbs, your bike could still stand to lose 7 lbs. why not do both? weigh savings are always seem to be mutually exclusive on BF.

I heartily agree seven pounds on a bike IS a big deal. I'm not a "newbie" - I've been an "adult" cyclist since 1972, started racing as a Senior 4 in 1977 and worked as a bicycle mechanic/salesperson in college. However, when you're accelerating or climbing weight is weight, be it on your bike or on your butt. Lighter wheels can help in the acceleration department since most inertia is on the wheels (rotating weight), but when you're climbing power-to-weight ratio is critical. You can increase power by getting stronger and reduce weight by lightening your bike or your body. Which is easier to do? I suppose for some it is easier to shell out more money for a lighter bike than lose the body fat. If so, more power to you - lighter is still better however it comes.

Love that Promachine

I've always been a fan of BMC, something about their bikes is extremely attractive.
