Very nice color combination. Every time I see another person's white road bike I think, WOW. More often than not they are sexy as hell (the bike that is).

I had to do a double-take. That's the exact same color as my 1981 Univega Viva Sport with Suntour components!

Overview of the roadbikes I used over the last ten years:

1994: Peugeot / Ultegra 8-speed / Rigida wheels / Cinelli - Speedplay bars and stems

1996: Presto / Ultegra 8-speed / Mavic open Pro and Spinergy Rev-x / Cinelli bars and stems

    1998: Bianchi / Ultegra 9-speed / Spinergy Rev-x / ITM - Profile bars and stems

At this moment I use a cyclocross bike for commuting, off-road riding but also for all group rides and solo rides (with a camelback for drinks, spare tires, etc.)

2003: Kinesis / Dura-Ace - Ultegra - XTR mix / Mavic open Pro / Ritchey Pro OS bars and stems / Spooky carbon brakes / carbon single setup

    MisterCindy: Finally another Univega rider!
How did you find the date on your bike? I've been looking all over and haven't found anything.

    Do you like it?

I think my bike is pretty cool- an amazing bike for $100. (Poor old owner had a bike shop in this area- he was sad to see it go for only $100. He gave me all his tools, an extra specialized seat, etc.) Nice guy- I've taken care of her. (I think)

My Suntour gears are supposed to be quality components- but I keep bringing them back to the LBS because of clicking. Time to clean my gears or something else? I was having trouble with the shifters not being tightened enough- the cable was pulling the shifters into a higher gear (higher/lower? .. the chain was being pulled into a smaller crank. Only way to describe it.)

Cmon cmon you can't post to a road bike thread without showing a pic!

Well I just purchased a 1997 Klein Quantum Race w/full 600 Ultegra. The bike was ridden less than 200 miles! Is this pre-Trek?
As soon as it's shipped I'll take pics, but here is a sneak preview.

Had to get them to 'throw them in' . I figured after spending a whack of cash that would have been automatic, it was like pulling teeth . I do love the look of them though. Completes the bike.

Now I'm looking for ways to hide/store some CO2 and a tube under the seat neatly without a seat bag. Anyone have any ideas?

Barbieri, I think, or another European company has handlebar plugs that hold 12gr CO2 cartridges, one in each end of the bars. I never tried it (I use 16gr cartridges) but found the idea quite neat.

I would suggest a combination of these items.

I've searched your setup, like it very much. If I can't find a way to stealth the CO2 a bit better, I'll be going that route. I'd like to keep the tubes as free of add ons as I can. Vein, yes, but I love the look of the new frame. Of course, I don't want to get stuck without a spare so safety first, but if I can find a way to strap under the seat with the tube ...

I have the SKS Airgun inflator and it comes with attachments to mount it and two cartridges to the waterbottle mounts. The holder from SKS is smaller and stealthier than the one from Minoura.

Yeah. I understand. I also preferred as clean a look as possible on the frame which is why I went with the SKS system. I haven't really found anything else that's as nice looking or compact.

just wrap two tubes in a x pattern around your body....
clarify that, across the left shoulder and under right arm and same for other side.

Here's one BikeForums member who did something like that.

    Short version of the story:

    1. Went for a ride on a nice Sunday
    2. Rider got a puncture
    3. Improvised tyre boot (read: $1 bill) was not holding
    4. All bike shops on the island and in the vicinity were closed
    5. Rider tried to make a 27" tyre purchased at Wal-Mart work on a 700c rim
    6. Clever repacking of Mr. Tuffy liner provided more acceptable tyre boot for return trip
    7. Rider did not want to stand in long line to return said tyre to Wal-Mart
    8. Rider donned said tyre and rode with it across body all the way back
    9. Rider was ngateguy

The shop said it was about 16lbs, but I did not get an official measurement. I will have them put it on the scale in a few weeks when I bring it back for break in adjustments. I'm really not to worried about how much it weighs, but it would be fun to know. I just really love the ride. Silky smooth but aggressive as all h*** at the same time.

An FSA os-115 stem and carbon bars are in the plans for next spring, as well as either new Mavic or Record black break callipers. I really like the look of the black Mavics. Anyone know where I could get a set in Toronto? For now, this is the setup that worked in my budget. Those were the sacrafices that I could live with for now and upgrade later. I really wanted everything else so bars, stem and callipers were downgraded.

Any ideas for carbon bars? I like the look of the Easton EC90's, and the FSA K-Force bars. Both would go with the aesthetics of the bike and I've heard good things about both (more about the Eastons). Any recommendations would be most welcome.

easton and fsa are probably about identical quality, I think I've heard easton does some testing for FSA. If budgets a concern go for the less expensive. I like the graphics on the FSA's... does anyone else dislike eastons "bat boy" graphics?

I'm surprised to hear a cervelo described as silky, maybe slippery. that;s cool tho'

Not the world's most prestigious carbon, but it's light, stiff and very raceable.

Eep! The forum software doesn't like image urls unless they specifically end in one of the supported image type extensions. I saved a copy of the image off the above website and have attached it below for you. That's a pretty cool looking headtube.

Yeah, that's sort of a downside to those semi-integrated or "hidden" headsets. If you don't match the cup's stack height just right then some will show through.
