Just got this in a couple weeks ago, a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 105:

my first road bike and I'm loving it! I commute with it, I climb mountains with it, go get coffee with it.. it serves all my needs quite well

oh and as you can see from the third pic I ditched the white tires it came with. Seriously, white tires? Not white sidewalls, rather white on the tread. They looked like this when I carefully brought it home from the bike shop without touching the tires on the ground: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5058/...17975625_b.jpg

Not close to the other bikes in the thread but changed frames due to my epic beginning to creak from the seat-tube..

    2001 Trek 1000

Components are mostly old 105 but with dura-ace 7700 derailleurs. Wheelset is xero xr-1 16 spoke front/20 spoke rear with 30mm rim depth. Only about 700-800 miles on them so far but i have been really satisfied.

    My first build - CAAD5

I've posted in the CAAD Cult as well, but would like to share with None-CAAD folks as well. Someone mentioned to me that I MUST use a spacer above the stem to prevent steer tube crack, but I've seen many of your bikes without the spacer, but simply a top cap. What is the correct way?

    Thanks
    -Jeff

Once you throw some ZIPP 303s on that puppy, you'll have the quintessential BF bike. By the way, it's sweet!

well, it's not in the typical lowest gear on the cassette for the picture. That could be causing your eyes to lie to you.

I think it is more that the disc brakes throw off the line of perception of the chain.

I noticed that you have your saddle far forward, but you also have a post with setback. maybe consider a zero setback post like a Thomson

i'm not positive, but i think the issue is that you need SOMETHING above the top of the steerer tube. if the stem clamp extends above the top edge of the steerer tube, then you're ok with just a top cap. if the steerer extends past the top of the stem, you need a spacer so the top cap presses on the spacer and not the actual steerer. that's my understanding. nice bike, btw.

also, i really like that ritte.

Like minds think alike. It's on the to do list, the Cannondale Competition seatpost came with the frame so it'll have to do for now.

I had a rubber bar end cap that I put between the bike and the brick. I the pic with it leaning up against a painted steel pole though, it's totally leaning on it. No damage done, I clean up the bike daily so I'd see it

    Thanks for the comments guys

One clue that he used a wider than "normal" lens is the amount of light fall-off around the edges. I would've guessed 28 @ 2.0- but that's because I don't own a 35....

Ah, the 35L... the only lens I've ever regretted selling. I'll get another one... sometime... bike crap and camera crap, fighting over the slim pickin's of my wallet.
