What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just brought home a new 2005 Trek 1000 yesterday. I want a Flight Deck computer next!

(I pity anyone that made the mistake of subscribing to this thread.)

I have an '04 Bianchi Giro, celeste/navy of course!

I've swapped out the handlebars, stem & seatpost for Deda Magic series components. Also, Speedplay zero series pedals & Shimano Flightdeck comp.

I'm looking for another set of wheels...possibly Kysrium Elites?

Lets see...I started off on a Trek 520 Touring Bike...my first 'road bike'. Decided to go to Europe after HS (Graduation Present) so got the bike in March for my B'Day. By July, i was in Europe on a trip with a bunch of other kids and cycled from London to Rome (some 1500+ miles or so) in about a month. Came home, more in love with cycling then i imagined, and bought a LeMond Alpe d'Huez (2003 model i believe). My dad decided to take up cycling so was on my Trek 520. A couple months ago, he crashed it (cracked the frame and all) he was ok, but the people in the shop were suprised he hadnt broken anything given the way the bike was. So i gave him my LeMond Alpe d'Huez and got a great deal on a Merlin Road, 2000 Version, 100% Titantium with a Carbon Fiber front fork. Have only ridden it for a total of about 20 miles and cant wait to get back on it. Suprised no one else rides a Merlin here?

Homewood, born and raised. You? B'ham, obviously, but what part? Do you ride w/the Bham Bike Club? I was thinking about doing one of the easier rides soon. Now I'm just tooling around my part of town and on Lakeshore Path.

I'm south of B'ham in Helena. I have considered joining the Bham bike club and going on some of the rides. I've pretty much gone solo so far myself. I'm currently going to school and working, so it's hard to swing a schedule that's not my own right now. I graduate in June, so the rest of the summer will be more riding!

Old School ride: '79 Colnago Super, 63 cm. Nuovo Record and Super Record mixed. Ambrosio rims, Conti tubs. Concor saddle. Cinelli 66s on an old (non-aero) 13 cm stem. Love it. Knew it was the real deal when I rode from Austin to Fort Worth along the IH 35 access road (about 200 miles) with a gusty tailwind. For miles and miles I could sit up and ride no-hands. That bike tracked like it was on rails. Still does. Filthiest 3rd world paint job you ever saw; would have rusted had it been on the freaking moon. Repainted twice, once just for grins, the last time without transfers or anything like that. If I ever get a custom frame, I'm gonna say, "Build me one of those..."
