What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes I'm trying to create the first six-wheeled pedal powered vehicle. It will have one big wheel on the front, two wheels each side and one wheel in the back. When I'm finished I will have it made by slave labor in China for 10 cents each and sold through Wal-Mart for $25.00. Every child in America will have one....This is my first step toward total world domination.

Are you kidding? I think it's great. It shows that cycling is a family affair.

Okay, mine is not custom but it has a semi-unique paint /decal scheme. Started out as a 1996 LeMond Zurich with the blue / silver fade paint job then offered. It had to be sent back for weld repairs and by then the only paint left was red so they made a hybrid combo. Anyway, here's my 60-cm LeMond with the 8-speed Ultegra group.

What's the coolest looking bike on this thread? Come on folks, lay it down on what you like! I reckon it has to be something out of the ordinary. There's some really nice Cannondales and Trek, but well.....they are Cannondales and Treks.....ubiquitous.

There's a really nice Dean El Diente early in the thread, an orange IF Ti that's excellent, a mind blowing Litespeed Ghisillo, a couple of really tidy de Rosas, and a really nice (and unique) blue/green coloured custom steel bike(can't remember brand).

Well here are my picks:

The number one bike on this forum is Russel Rollins '85 Dave Moulton. This bike is just beautiful.
https://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...chmentid=15329

Second goes to the Fixers Cinelli Olympic track bike on page 1

Then in no particular order:
The Basso fixed gear bike on page 23
My dearly departed Cinelli Starlight on page 37
My recently sold Orbea Orca on page 41
Pogomans LOOK 196
My current LOOK 481

Yes I like my bikes.

I've had chrome lugs and stays on custom bikes myself - v nice, as is the Dave Moulton, but I don't know if it is the coolest bike on bikeforums....and no cheating picking your own bikes!!!!

Mind you, the BB looks chrome on the Moulton. You don't see that too often.

Just made another major update to my 2100 road bike... here you go... (See attached photos...)

Trek 2100 63cm 2005 model
ZR 9000 Aluminum Frame with OCLV Carbon Seatstays...

Full Dura Ace Double 10 Speed Drivetrain
7800 Double Dura Ace crankset 180 mm (53-39)
7800 Front Dura Ace Deraileur (Double)
7800 Rear Dura Ace Short Cage Deraileur
7800 Dura Ace Double STI 10 Speed Shifters (Not installed in photo)
Dura Ace 10 Speed 12-27 Cassette (Not installed in photo)
7800 Dura Ace front and Rear Brakes (Not installed in photo)
There parts just arrived on Friday when the photos were taken...

Bontrager Race XXX Lite Carbon Seatpost
Bontrager Race Lite Saddle
Bontrager Race Lite Carbon Fork
Bontrager Race 130mm Stem and Handlebars

Race X Lite Areo Wheelset (1700 grams)
Vittora Rubino Kevlar Tires
Speedplay X5 cromoly pedals
Shimano Flight Deck Wireless Computer
Niterider integrated Trailrat 2 Lighting

Weight -- 19.81 pounds without lighting system, pump or bag.

In a ZR9000 frame this is about as light as you can get. The bike is amazingly responsive, stiff and not flexy. I have rode a large amount of full carbon and aluminum hybrid frames. The dura ace 10 drivetrain is amazingly smooth runing, takes the power very well. Light and responsive is all I can say.

Future Upgrades
Bontrager Race X Lite OS Handlebars
Bontrager Race XXX Lite Carbon Stem (130mm)
Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon 110 fork

Estimated final weight -- 18.9 pounds

Total Cost -- 2900 dollars including the sale of the parts that came off the bike (3300 - 400 = 2900)
Total Cossts with Final Upgrades --- Approx 3800 dollars

And if you are wondering a 16 pound full carbon bike (Orbea) or a 17 pound madone 5.9 run about 5400 dollars (about 1500 more than my bike has in it...)

Enjoy

So have I, I've got several custom lugged steel road bikes and one steel lugged track bike hanging in the shed!!!! The waist line would be better off if I rode them more often.

I have a Lemond Titanium 96 model with 8 speed campy and Rigida DP18 wheels and it still runs like a dream. There is a reason I buy Campy over Shimano.
