Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is my first road bike, I got it from a friend who has MS who can't ride it any longer. He only put about 50 miles on it. I got quite a good deal on it.

2009 Specialized Tarmac Comp Double with Mavic Aksium wheelset and an Ultegra rear derailleur. Everything else is 105. I've got pedals coming tomorrow.

Not a fan of the mismatched tires, but, overall, I think your bike has rather nice lines. (The bartape/logo match works, too)

I just got the bike out of my parents shed where it had lived since I went off to college 12 years ago. I got it working pretty good. I need to get new tires (urban preferably) and pedals/shoes. Ultimately, I'd like to upgrade to a steel-frame bike with more modern components.

Thanks man! I'll take some classes and reshoot my bike for you! On a side note, it is VERY wide open. Purposely. I was comparing my different lenses. I had a 24 f/1.4, the 50 f/1.2, and the 85 f/1.2 all on a 5D. I shot the bike with all the lenses wide open, then shot them with the lenses stopped down. I was curious the sharpness of the lenses wide open / stopped down as it was my first time shooting them. Mostly an experiment. Just so happened the ones i posted where wide open. Actually, they were so wide open, focus was a bit off on all the shots. Although, this probably does not deserve an explanation as I was just sharing photos of my bike, not looking to print these in a magazine or out shooting for a company.

Here is my other rode bike: Trek T1. Or rather a track bike I ride on the road..haha

Jeez I didn't mean to ruffle so many feathers. Interesting the only one who didn't have some derogatory comment was the one I made the criticism of.

My 50mm f/1.4 wide open is fun too, and I've also done my fair share of comparisons with my 17-35 f/2.8... see the difference is they are throw away pics, and if I'm going to show someone a pic, it's going to be either a crap cell phone pic, or if I bust out the camera, it will at least be properly exposed and using DOF in a proper way. Nothing wrong with wide open, but at least find a focus point that makes sense.

I like the black and white pic better. I know this isn't the photo forum, but here is a pic of mine, if you want to chat sometime about photos, cameras, etc.

I said extremely shallow depth-of-field was overused is all. It's the sepia of the 10s. I would like to be able to see the entire object that is the primary focus. Some people think that even small objects should be 3/4 blurry.

There is nothing meager about toe clips and down tube shifters.. I actually prefer them and wouldn't want it any other way. Imagine that.

Synapse SL with Campy Record 10 speed. Going to fix the bar tape. What color should I wrap the bars?

Sparkly blue Fizik Microtex to go with the frame and the saddle (but especially to match the saddle). Although the red-white-blue mix has an awkwardly patriotic flair.

I agree completely. These days anyone who can do depth of field images tends to overdo it to "be like the pro's".
It makes no sense to make an image blurry when reality isn't blurry.
Depth of field is nice to give a 3D effect but the object that is photographed shouldn't be half blurry.
