Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

don't have pics right now. but I currently have 2 road bikes.
a silver 2003 (i think) Trek 2300 that has roughly 4000 miles on it, and a Trek 5200 carbon which I just purchased at end of riding season last year and have yet to take it out, as its getting tuned up at the bike shop as I type.

Ronan, haven't decided yet if your going to cut the extra steerer tube, looks ugly if you keep it that way on your bike.

A few days late on this one, but that is a beautiful bike. One of the nicest cleanest I have seen. Looks unridden at the time of the pictures , but we'll hope that is not still the case. I am very jealous.

Thanks! I did finally get to ride it yesterday, and posted a report in the Road Cycling forum, as suggested.

BTW, the sharp-eyes might have wondered about the computer. In the pics it is a Wireless 7, but it has been replaced with the correct CD300DW since.

My Marinoni Ciclo is considered a "sport touring" bike. Slightly longer wheel base, but not made for loaded touring. It has Campy Veloce 10 speed. This picture is from the ad - mine has a different colour scheme.

Okay, I can't resist anymore. Over the winter I had this made for me by "ANT Bike Mike" (www.antbikemike.com).

It is a randonneuring bike. The aesthetics are so elegant it gives off the vibe of a musical instrument and the ride is superb. I can't get enough of this machine, its the ultimate day-tripper.

My wife also has an ANT. Her's is a roadster with internal hub gearing. I should post pics of that too.

I just bought the Trek 1000 - good deal from LBS with a bottle and cage thrown in to boot - brand new out of the box (mine was the first and only butt on the seat). 6 months free service included. I dug deep for another bottle/cage set and a Trek8i wireless computer. Put just over 10 miles in today - wind and hills were killers! Only averaged about 17 mph, but maxed out at 37mph. Once I'm more confident with my balance, I'll spring for the clipless pedals. I'm sure I'll pay for the ride tomorrow. Got to figure out how to get away from work and ride during the day. Read the other thread about school jerseys - My alma mater's cycling team has one on order for me. Cost? Who cares? The bug has bitten. My wife has jewelry, I've now got bikes - seems like a fair trade to me. Pics to follow when I can wrestle the camera from the wife.

Here's a pic of my '04 Litespeed Firenze. I've got a little over 500 miles on it so far. It's a 59cm and weighed in at 18.75 lbs without pedals.

Nice Tuscany, by the way! What fork is on it? Are you really okay with that saddle tilt?

It seems to me that the overwhelming number of people with non-level saddle tilts just reflects the overwhelming number of people who have an improperly fit bike.
