Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2013 Specialized Allez Sport Compact

The photo doesn't do the blue any justice, but its my 2013 Specialized Allez Sport Compact...Its the 52cm size frame and has the Shimano Sora Double brake shifters vice the kind with the small thumb shifter like the previous models...Its a fun bike to ride on...Still getting comfortable with the cleats before I go off into the Urban Jungles of Honolulu and Waikiki...

Had it a while now, was pretty stock so no reason to post. Changed the seat to Selle Italia SLR kit carbonio and white bar tape and hoods.

Just took her on her maiden voyage. Only 12 miles, but having not gone on any real rides for almost a month, getting in an accident and being sick for last week, it was a relatively hard 12 miles. Really looking forward to riding this bike more.

I got my first road bike. And probably my first good bike, a Trek 1.2. It's not a super fancy all carbon-fibre machine, but I'm really happy with it. I've put about 400km on it the first month and just today did a 30km trip on it. Not huge, but I'll be working my way up. I'm mainly taking it work, about 11km each way.

The steel Fuso has been sitting around without getting much attention for some months. I put the Centaur compact back on along with the Open Pros laced to Ultegra hubs. Dura-Ace 10 speed down tube shifters. Who says Shimano can't dump the cassette in one big shift?

Two months ago I decided to return to riding the road after 20 years off a bike. I found an unsold '08 Specialized Roubaix Comp (Compact) at my LBS. Sure, it was four-years-old, but it was new and under warranty. I've been riding it with a group and solo three to four times weekly, with most rides in the thirty to forty mile range. I'm amazed at how much fun I'm having.

Nice first real bike. They did a great job with the color scheme. Keep up the miles. That is pretty great. Best part is, it only gets better from here on up

When I stopped riding (crash, broken neck, compressed vertebrae), my bike was a 1976 Raleigh Grand Prix. I get almost giddy when I ride now and feel the improvements with each pedal stroke, shift, and turn.

My first road bike - Kellys Arc 3.0. Maybe it's not that superb-pro, but I love it. The frame is aluminium, the fork is carbon. Rest is full Shimano Tiagra group, except the pedals, which are platforms at the moment (taken from previous bike). I will get SPD-SL soon. Bad quality, because I got bad camera in my phone. Greetings from Poland, by the way
