What road bike do you have?

How's the weight compared to a regular set of bar tape? I've got a few kg's to lose on the bike and am thinking of starting with a few little things.

but comes with a whole host of advantages.
lovely shock absorption properties too.
so it really boils down to your priorities.

@Coasting, What brand of white tape are you using? I am looking into getting some but I've heard some brands stay cleaner than others.

i'm not him but i'll answer cuz i've gone through a couple different kinds of white tape. what i have right now is some fizik, but not the kind that feels like suede, just the smooth kind. really easy to clean, you can just hit it with a damp rag and it looks new again. i had the suede-like kind before and it got pretty dirty and didn't clean up as easy...also had the same problem with cinelli cork tape

Is this what you are talking about? I have similar material on mine now and I like the feel when I'm not wearing gloves.

I used bontrager gel tape. I'm not expecting them to stay white for long. i looked at the fizik microtex but it seemed thin and i like thick tape. the bontrager is not smooth on the surface. It is more like cork and so will not be easy to clean. I'll just have to be careful.

I just picked up some Fizik and the guy at the shop said it's a lot easier to keep clean than cork. The thickness doesn't bother me too much because I ride on my hoods most of the time.

It's been a while, got new bartape, back to the Aliante, new water cages (and bottle), Shimano pedals, and some minor swag... time for fresh pix (and a bumping of a couple threads)!

Coolest Specialized Allez ever! 2009 @15.5lbs!
(I crashed my systemsix in the garage (roof rack) and needed a frame quick for my races so I built up an Allez on a budget...re-used my parts from the Cannondale.
Rides awesome..

2010 Scott CR1 Comp. Since this picture I have upgraded the components from Tiagra/105 to Ultegra and an FSA compact carbon crank. I also threw on a Easton EA90 stem and 3T Ergosum handlebars.

Yeah, it really is... before I bought this bike last year, online when I saw the clearance price, I was worried that it was not a good orange. In person, you are right, she's a beaut!!! My clementine!
