Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Although he clarified that what he meant was bb30 vs. threaded, the difference between s-works and 'regular' is that the s-works models are the highest model of each type. Some years the distinctions are less pronounced, like for 2011 the S-Works is an SL3 frame with FACT 11r carbon layup, while the Pro and Expert are also SL3 frames, but with the lower modulus 10r (less stiff and heavier) layup. Last year the S-Works was the same 11r SL3 but the Pro/Expert was a 10r SL2 frame. In 2008 there was actually two S-Works Tarmacs, a 10r SL frame and an 11r SL2.

I can't see the pics, but if you got a module I assume it is a 2010 model? I don't believe that the 2011s are sold as a module anymore.

Here is another one just like it, but different manufacturer: PRS-20 https://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-PRS-...5108103&sr=1-3

$173 and free shipping with Amazon prime! I'm going to order one in the spring. My wife says I can't have any more new toys for awhile...

Didn't you used to run a specialized crank? And is what you got right there an older s900 or something?

It's an old photo, before I got the Specialized version of the CinQo, which I now run. In the picture it's just a standard S900 crank with a prototype CinQo that's not annodized. It's still my favorite picture of the bike, although I do have some more recent ones somewhere...

Had a goal I wanted to reach for weight loss, promised myself a new (well, second hand) carbon bike if I got there. So, this is my reward, just got it last week. 2008 Scott CR1 Pro, a good deal off an online auction site here in New Zealand. A big step up from my 2002 Giant OCR2. Ultegra, but chainwheel's been changed to a FSA at some stage. It has done a few kms but am happy with the condition it's in.

Giant Defy 3 suckas!!! My pedals were like 1/4 of what the bike cost. But I plan on upgrading to a new bike next year.

It's funny that you'll let it pass because it's steel, the same paint job on carbon still looks like A$$
