Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The red is temporary, when I crashed and broke my wheel fork and bars... got a new wheel and fork but I have old bars from my old bike. When I get new bars I'll put white tape on again.

Only the front is a Lew, the rear is a Reynolds. The Lew was 510g, which is about an ounce lighter than my Reynolds was. It's not stickers, it's printed directly on.

The 29k feet is not a typo, it's everest challenge, and it's over 2 days.

Excuse the dumb question.... For something like that do you still ride with a standard double or do you put on a compact?

These Specialized bikes are amazing.

Even the Allez feels light on it's feet compared to other bikes in the price range. I can't imagine 13.9 lbs.

Hey umd - how do you like the nokon stuff? I'm looking at getting some, but everyone in the mech department at my shop hates it. They've only installed/used it in the stand, mind you.

Just got a "New" set of wheels. They were helf hostage by Belgian customs for 3 months along with a bunch of tubular tires.

And one of the CX bike. Put new Avenir winged bars on, as well as a 12-27 cassette to replace the 11-21 Belgium Block. FSA SLK Cantis on next week.

They didn't really change anything for 2011... And the amount of arc depends on the frame size. The rear triangles are all roughly the same size, so larger frames will slope down more from the HT to the ST.

Yokozuna wasn't around, it at least not popular, when I built up this bike. Anyway, I've heard it's a pain to install.. I've never had any issues with the Nokons. They come pre-strung so it's not like you have to sit there putting the beads on. I also like that it's a fully sealed system.

I put on an 11-32 XX cassette and RD for Everest Challenge and the training rides leading up to it.

I have a 2009 CAAD 9-6. Here it is after a year and a half, with almost everything upgraded but the group. That's next.
