Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Up to 2010 Easton was the supplier of the nano technology carbon fiber used in the SLC01 model. Hence the Easton stamp on the chainstay. And the ones that came built by BMC had the Easton bits on them as well. This particular one is a size 57 that I built myself in 2008 using Shimano Dura Ace 7800 (top of the line Shimano at the time) and stayed true to the BMC tradition by using all Easton bits throughout. Stem EA90, Handlebar EC90 SLX3, seatpost EC90 and fork EC90 SLX.

Yep, big big, skip the rear derailleur entirely. Find the length that would connect, and then add a link.

Like most stories, this one starts with me not intending to upgrade. But the deal was simply too good to pass up, and getting that deal on my birthday, well, it's like the universe was telling me what I needed to do.

Heh -- your build sounds kinda like mine, except for me substituting a couple parts -- my SLX01 has EA90 wheels and an EC70 stem (for now), plus its Streampost that can't be swapped out anyway. At least its shifters are 7800 (got 6600 derailleurs) and the bar's an EC70 instead.

Well, "kinda like mine", if used broadly..

2003 Specialized Allez Elite Cr-Mo 27

Picked it up from Craigslist in excellent condition despite its 8 years old. Has Columbus frame and Shimano 105 groupo.

It's all good my friend. there is no substitute to a bike that you build yourself. For one, if someone says:"nice bike!", you can say thank you, mean it and take credit for it.

How do you like the SMP saddle, have you ridden other saddles? how does it compare?

How much did you pick it up for? I've had mine (pic below) since 2005 and it's been a great bike.

The seller sold it to me for $450! It's supposed to be a good thing but it makes me wonder if I really got a good deal since the bike retailed for $1410 new according to Bikepedia. How much did you buy yours? Did you change any parts on your bike? Mine is completely stock. I realized my stem is more upright than yours. Do you know why?
