Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tarmac Elite.

My first post and my first road bike. Got this a couple of months back and have ridden it now for about 300kms. It's been wonderful and I still look forward to each ride.

My 2011 Giant Defy Advanced rolling with some Oval 745s. A very reliable ride that has taken me 2k+ miles already, and looking forward to the next few thousand!

The latest addition to the stable, a 2011 S3-Norwegian Red that I found NOS. I removed all the parts from the Noah Pro since that will get SR11-EPS and just transferred it onto the S3. Just waiting for the derailleur cables and I should have this on the road by early next week.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I thought I would share with y'all the picture I just received in my inbox from Spectrum Powderworks

I've been working on this project for a long time and it is finally near completion. I am blown away by the quality that Spectrum did, and their turnaround time was excellent (they are not the reason this project has taken so long).

Also, besides the patriotic aspect, there is another meaning behind the paint scheme. I'll be interested to see if anyone gets it. As a hint, what you can't see too well of the seat tube and the stays is that they are also red on the backside. I'll post more pics as the project progresses.

P.S. the yellow masking on the main tubes covers BTCs.

please post in the Hot or Not thread. Yikes. I hope the injury/recovery/rehab went well. That beautiful racing machine looks like a great way to get motivated and back to racing form.

People behind you see a red bike, people in front see a blue one?

Tacking on to bielijbog's comment: Red-shift when you're riding away from people, and blue-shift when you're catching up to them?

If this isn't the answer, it better start to be. That's good.

That's a nice one to combine with a paintjob of the shift levers. Up is red, down is blue.

Here are a few photos of the Cannondale R900 I picked up a few months ago from Craigslist. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning and polishing it up, and it is now ready to ride. Unfortunately, I have not had much time to ride it, though I'm hoping to put plenty of miles on it come springtime.

I think the CX70 crank makes sense especially if you live in a hilly area. Once I get up to 35/40mph going down hill I quit pedaling anyway. I just switched from a triple to compact and surprised how much I use the big ring/50 but would probably get more use if I had a 46.
