Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ChanceG- great looking bike. Nice to see a fresh new color that stands out from the everyday black, white, red schemes. Enjoy.

That blue Tarmac is flipping sweet.

This is my guy. I think I posted it in the budget thread but I guess I'll toss it up here, too.

FWIW...I had a Retul fit a couple of months back, and my drop, which is hardly extreme, is right at the limit of how low I should go...

How did you like that Retul service? Been wanting to get that fit from the local sports/rehab place that does them.

Love that bike, except how the head tube extends up so far above the top tube. Don't think I've seen a bike frame like that before.

I've been thinking of doing the Retul fit too.
Curious to see how far off my personal fit is to the Retul.

That's the standard Parlee Z5 SLi med/large size with tall head tube option. I suppose it's not to everyone's visual preference, but the geometry works very well indeed...

The Retul fit was a worthwhile expense for me. Raised me up an inch and forward an inch, into a sweet spot I didn't know was there.

I had one done last February, pretty good overall (but I was on the wrong bike), like any tool only as good as the person operating it! @gc3, have you ever done a fit at Fresh Bikes? Was planning on it at some point.

I haven't done much at Fresh Bikes. My favorite LBS inside the beltway is Bicycle Pro Shop in Alexandria, those guys take care of me very well. They'll do you a pretty good static fit.

1. Worth every penny. It's put me in a position where I'm comfortable but can still hammer down without sacrificing comfort. I'm looking to re-do one towards the start of next season.

I was in the ballpark of my ideal Retul measurement before the fitting and the guy adjusted it to the optimal measurement. I just became more efficient. The noticeable difference was the muscles recruited pre and post fit.

2. Ditto. I thought I was the only one that noticed. Is it because they don't want to raise the HT at the expense of raising the ST as well? More comfortable fit?

This is my bicycle, daily driver/rider, and best friend. To me it looks like a 70's era Ten Speed. I removed the front derailleur and tuned the rear for the middle three cogs on the freewheel, turning it into a nifty Three Speed. I also removed the rear brake, and chopped the handlebars short and flipped 'em upside down to give them the bullhorn look.

I've put about 1500 miles on it this year. I've done quite a bit of research trying to find out what exact brand or year it is, so I made this short video going through parts it came with when I got it (in hopes that someone here might be able to recognize it). The only parts I've changed are the Seat, Handlebar tape, and the wheels/tires/tubes. Also, painted it (poorly)

Bikes: Colnago Extreme Power, Ribble Winter

I've had a cervelo R3 for a couple of years, it never really did it for me tbh. I've lusted after a Colnago Extreme Power since 2007, especially in ST01 colours. I've been scouring the web almost every day for that time for a used one in my size and never seen one for sale that wasn't still full price, let alone one in ST01.
As I wasn't enjoying the Cervelo (it's a great bike, just a bit 'meh' to me, it just didn't get my juices flowing) I decided a I wouldn't be using it over winter I'd sell it and see what came up.
The R3 sold withing 7 hours and the guy paid. I did my usual look on ebay and... WTF?! 3rd hit was an Extreme Power in my size in ST01. I nearly fainted... Buy it now less than I got for the Cervelo...

Well,

It's arrived and it's just beautiful. Photos can't do the paint/carbon justice.
Not got it fully built up yet, needs cables/chain, new Chris King Headset and Deda Superleggero Stem to go on. I do have a pair of 50mm Carbon tubs for it too. Can't wait to get it finished!! I'll get some proper pics on when it's finished and set up right, the handlebars are pointing up a bit on this pic...
