Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What road bike do you have

Finally finished the build!!! And...already 50 miles on her (cold, wet weather be cursed).

Here is the Trek 1000 I built...

Here I am on my first built bike (Dawes Lightning 1000) for the MS ride in Myrtle Beach...all 228lbs of me!!! Gladly, I report, that I am now at 210!!!

And lastly...with my son in tow on the Trek for a charity ride in a nearby town (33 miler with a 43lb six year old in a 30lb trailer with supplies...food...drink...blankets...you know, kid stuff)

I really wanted the ISP, but at the last minute decided not to, wasn't worried about resale. The main issue was travel. The ISP will fit in my car, but when I fly with the bike, it would be a real pain, even if I removed the cranks.

I basically rode those wheels for 2 weeks straight after I got them to see how they dealt with different conditions. They aren't bad in the wind, much easier than you would expect for 68mm, though I weigh 163lbs so I don't get pushed around as much as those light guys. They marginally more affected by the wind than 30mm aluminum clincher rims with bladed spokes in windy/gusty conditions.

I love the wheels, light and very stiff. I feel comfortable riding them daily and should be able to deal with a puncture using a can of pit stop. can't wait to race with them!

Will have my new '08 Madone 6.5 w/full Dura Ace in about a week. Can't wait for the bike. My 2005 Pilot 5.2 is a great bike, and actually I raced well with it, but I've moved up to CAT 4 this year and decided to reward myself. I'll post some pics as soon as she arrives.

yeah, hey back in 87, for a 16 year old, it was a hell of a deal on sale for $549. I jumped on it once I scrapped for the money to buy it.

It's seen a lot of miles, with little more than some new inner tubes, a new set of cables, and some grease packing now and again. I certainly can't complain.

Hot build, I almost went with an RC7 last year, Blue bikes are nice. I might eventually built up their track bike.

To be OCP-correct the picture needs to be slightly smaller, drive side, big ring small cog, white garage door, etc... Ditch those goofy plastic SPD inserts, they are a safety hazard.
