Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can anyone help me Identify my classic Bianchi bike?

https://www.flickr.com/photos/mtcarey...16910/sizes/l/

It has Campy derailleurs and I think that it is from the early 70's
The decals are the same on the down tube as they are on the seat tube
I picked it up at goodwill for $10. It's in rough condition but My dad and me are going to work on it.

mtchoody - I'll bet someone can over in the Classic/Vintage forum. You might try re-posting there, if no-one helps you here (unfortunately, no one will, because technically you're in the wrong forum, and wrong thread, and this place is a tad ridiculous).

Ha! A bike against it is the least of its problems. The car has thousands of track miles on it, and a hundred + days of SCCA events. The paint is beat, and it's on its 2nd transfer case, suspension, motor mounts, etc.

Leaning the bar tap of the bike might actually make it cleaner

Fast cars can only be made cooler by heavy use and abuse.

As I said before, I love that bike. Had a look on Stevens' website, they're not even that expensive imo. Might save up some money to get me one too.

LOL, I could tell the bike was babied way more than the car. It looks like it has been accumulating brake dust on the wheels since it left the lot. At least you got the right color of wheels.

I actually have 4 sets of wheels for the car - ranging from winter snowtires to 285/30/18 R-comps. Running track brake pads - I don't even bother cleaning brake dust on the factory wheels anymore, the dust is too corrosive. In case you were wondering, the "right color of wheels" is factory issue.

primoV8 - tell us a little about the Kestrel - how do you like it? Maybe a little about its ride, smoothness, build quality? I've always thought the bike was a steal.

Yeah I know, I am from Ohio. All people do around here, is mod those things out for 1/4 mile racing. Aren't those factory wheels made by BBS or Enkei or somebody? I do see a few at Mid Ohio during the NASA events, and SCCA. My friend has an MR he just ran like a ran a 12.3X at the DSM Shootout.

This may explain the new signature. I was gogin to get the upgraded "Force" model, but it just has Deda aluminum tubing and a non-replaceable derailleur hanger, which isn't worth it to me.

Awesome! How do you like it? I just iwhs that it had a replaceable RD hanger, otherwide we'd have the same bike.

The RT800 is my first carbon road bike and I have no complaints. Overall, a smooth ride and responsive especially when out of the saddle. I don't race, ride generally for fitness and recreation and it does the job. The finish throughout the frameset is excellent and has lived up to its potential so far.
I did have an issue earlier in the year when the carbon aero seatpost would slide down even after the seatpost clamp was torqued correctly. Unfortunately, calls to a couple Kestrel LBS didn't go anywhere so I called Kestrel directly. They shipped an 09 seatpost which is constructed slightly thicker and haven't had any issues since.
When I completed this build in Feb, with EA50sl wheels, I spent close to $1800. What BD is offering with Sram Red for $2700 shipped is a great bargain without a doubt.
And if I can find another great deal for an 09 RT900 frameset, that would be my next build...unless a BH G4 frameset falls in the budget.

It's been great. It is solid and stiff; much more so than the scandium Redline CX it replaced. It's not the lightest but it's respectable. The non-replaceable hanger hasn't been a big issue thus far, hopefully it stays that way. You'll enjoy yours I'm sure.

If I like the sport, I'll upgrade to a full carbon fork and maybe knock a pound off or so. I feel like I need to put 11 speed on it, but I think Ultegra will be good for now.

My First Bike Race

finally raced Sunday in a 15k, about 9 miles. This was my first bike race. I started training in late July and August. My official time was 29min and 40sec.

Here is a picture of the team I was part of. I have a different uniform because I was a late commer add on to the team.

We took Silver medal for the competition.
