Not bad for a 73 year old

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not bad for a 73 year old

I believe this guy started Giant and is still the chairman/CEO. I wonder if I can still ride at 73.

Your linked article indicates that he just completed a 15-day tour.

But yeah, I can only hope to be healthy enough to ride like that in another 37 years.

Man, you'd think a corporate CEO could afford a dentist.

While out on a ride last week, I stumbled across a group of 10-15 riders stopped just outside a park entrance. I stopped and queried about their route and what group it was. Turns out it was a group primarily composed of retirees that calls themselves the rusty-chain gang, a subset of a local bicycle club. The leader was pushing 80 (or may have been 80, my memory, is rusty), and many riders were over 60. I decided to ride a bit with them. They rode at a 14-15 mile average; due to time contraints and the fact I had already ridden a while, I rode the shorter 30 mile option, while several of the riders were doing a 45 mile loop. I hope like hell I am doing that well when I am pushing 80.

Some of these old people are scary! Like the 70-something year old guy from China who recently Climbed Mt. Everest...

There is a 77ish year old guy that rode over some pretty long hills on a Monday ride last week. A club member was telling me about him, it was pretty amazing.

I hope I can ride at this age too!
