Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek 1100, Good deal?

I am looking at a used 1993 Trek 1100 for $100. Said to be in "great" condition. Picture attached.

Is this a reasonable price?
Are there any known problems that I should look for when I look at it?

Thanks for any help.

Those things are pretty durable. See if you can ride it around the block once or twice. If it makes it (and it fits right) buy it and bring it to a shop for a complete overhaul. For probably under $200 you will have a pretty nice ride!

+1

If it fits, and hasn't been crashed/damaged beyond repair, $100 is a good deal. Have your LBS give it a thorough going over for safety, and a decent overhaul/setup, and you've got a great bike.

As you get to be a better rider, and more familiar with the bike, swap parts/upgrade as necessary....and ride it like ya stole it.
