Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i hate the short sleeve tan too, which was another reason i was asking about sleeveless jerseys, because i'd rather have tan lines that no one can see under a s/s shirt...

sleeveless - for both comfort and tan purposes.

i shave my armpits for my own good, but it's good to know that i'm helping others out by doing it as well..

I got my first sleeveless jersey a couple weeks ago, and I love it. I already ordered another one.

It feels a lot cooler, plus I don't ride during peak sun so burning my shoulders isn't an issue. I also feel my range of arm motion is a little better when grabbing something out of my jersey rear pocket, for example. As for showing my armpits, that breeze is just what I need when I get hot! I'm always on back country roads, so very few people see me anyway.

I'm curious why I never see a pro cyclist on TV with sleeveless. Loss of prime sponsor advertising space?

^^^ Unless rules have changed recently you're not allowed to wear sleeveless in a race.

I have a few sleeveless jerseys for days when the temperature and humidity are over 90, and I think they're noticeably more comfortable. If I'm going to go with the sleeveless design, I also go with a full zip for maximum ventilation on climbs.

When it's hot ....... sleeveless for mtb, and sleeved for road.

If only they'd put IR reflective materials on jerseys...

I LOVE my sleeveless jerseys. When I lived in Manitoba, I lived in them all summer long. Sadly, where I live now, it is rarely warm enough to wear them for anything other than base layers.

Alway's short sleeves (summertime) and alway's sunscreen, my brother died of a skin cancer I don't need or want a tan.
Anyway it's currently 6.20AM here now and I am getting ready to go out for a ride and it's 0.7 deg C so I doesn't really matter right now!

Most of the Tri-guys wear sleeveless, but the oddly cut tri style. I wear regular sleeveless on hotter days, they seem cooler, and break up the farmer tan.

Humidity = Sleeveless.
When it's hot and humid, I don't give a damn about how "gay" it might look, I need the extra airflow.
I only have one and that's what I bought it for --- HUMIDITY!

I ride a handcycle so my torso and arm muscles are doing the work. It's MUCH cooler with a sleeveless jersey.
