Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ibex Aprissa 4500...Good bike????

I've started a few threads with this same sort of content but I'm going another direction with this one. All of the bikes I've looked at are your nomal LBS brands. I'm a college student on a tight budget and I need the best I can get for what little money I have. I've compared and it has better components than a Trek 1000 at almost a $100 cheaper. Anyone know anything about the Ibex's?

I bought an Elite 6500 around January of 06. I have about 1500 miles on it and have been extremely happy with it. Only thing I've replaced so far was the tires to pro race 2 which made a big difference. I'm looking for a new saddle but I haven't decided on anything yet.

I just bought a Ibex Aprisa Team with Ultegra and a DuraAce RD. Carbon fork, carbon rear triangle.
Excellent bike as my second. Light and good quality. Excellent spec'd bike. Even on the 4500 you are looking at.
Good Luck!

I looked at the Trek 1000 but found it a little on the cheap side.

I have talked to three Ibex bike riders and all said they were very happy with the quality. However, these guys were all experienced riders and knew exactly what they were looking for with regards to frame size, frame geometry, and componet group. Shop every local bike shop, test ride everything you can, don't be afraid to offer them 10-20% less then list as shops offer a minimun 10% discount to bike club members. The bargains are out there, it just takes a little patience. Good luck.

When I was shopping around at LBS 3/4 told me to get on while they held from the front and told me to look down and line the handle bar with the front wheel hub. So how bout that for a LBS fit.

A few fit adjustments can be made via seat and stem length and I was able to dial in a good fit with my IBEX. I'm 5'11 and the 57 mm fit me perfect.

To add what jimx200 said I have seen msrp on new bikes at LBS come down a bit compaired to a year ago.
