Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yep. I sold it to a Serotta forumite about 3-4 months ago and regret it. One of the only framesets I know I should've kept.

Hi,

The build has begun:

2006 Record-10 group with carbon cranks (new), 2002 Zipp 303 tubulars (only used on race days ), 2006 (classic) Selle Italia Flite saddle (new), 2007 Reynolds Ouzo Pro seatpost (new), 2007 Ritchey WCS Classic bars, 2007 Ritchey WCS 4AXIS stem (new), 2005 Look A5.1 pedals (new)

Took a while to get the position dialed-in as it was hard to "level" the frame on my old-style Vetta trainer. Final build pics should be up by next Sunday.

Completed Attack

Hi,

Here it is:

Ended up using a FSA Vision Sizemore stem are the Ritchey had too much rise. However, even though the Sizemore weighs more than the 4axis I think that it looks better.

I had a 1988 Serotta Colorado and it was red and orange (fade).

I may have to PM you about those parts.

The graphics on this bike are kind of a love hate thing for most people. Although the haters seem to be outnumbering the lovers.

So far I am liking it quite a bit.

Serotta's wear Campagnolo just as good as any Italian made frame out there in my opinion. Lovin' the Attack.

Hi Bob,

How is it that I've never seen the Ottrott before? Love the color scheme. Try to say hi the next time you're at Eldo.

Hi cuda2K,

I agree. I think it's because Ben has always built his racing bikes with European race geometries.

See #39 for my Fierte frame. I really loved this bike but got the idea that I wanted bare titanium so I would not have to look at scratched/chipped paint again. I had decided that for the price difference I could get my steel frame repainted several times so I decided to keep it until I scored a Serotta Legend SE ST frame and F-3 fork in the Serotta Garage for $1,960. I transferred all the parts except the wheels are now Velocity Aerohead O/C - 20/28 with White Industries hubs. I still cannot believe this deal, but I am not going to complain.

Is it just me, or many Serotta owners very tall? I notice a lot of headtube in many of these pics.

See# 67.
I'm 6 foot, with a long inseam.
That photo is also a little deceiving from the angle. however, it is a taller headtube then my last frame.
I trust to the fact that my fitter knew what she was doing, so I'm good with it.

but, look at a lot of bikes out there, with 3 cm of spacers...or more

I do not know if it is true, but I have seen comments that Serotta trained fitters tend to place riders in a more upright position. Or it could be because Serotta riders average age is higher than other manufacturers. I am 6'1" and like to ride more upright. The Fierte and Legend frames that I have are standard builds for 58cm Serottas.

Nice bike LD! White bikes do it for me, Serotta's in particular.

Hi,

I first came across Serotta bicycles and Ben Serotta during the late 1970s when I was going to college in Troy, NY. Many of the local racers were on Serottas and I always liked the craftsmanship associated with those bikes. I went to Ben's original shop / house a few time back in that era.

I kept an eye on Ben's work during the 1980s and I finally pulled the trigger on a Colorado in 1988. That was the best steel bike that I have ever owned. Unfortunately, I broke it in 2000. It took me seven years to get another Serotta. The first custom sized frame that I've ever owned.
