Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

allez, robubaix....synapse or caad8

I just made a visit to a lbs that has it all. Great shop, professional fit for a small price. I'm a new road rilder and am caught between the above mentioned bikes. The shop will allow me to take one or all for a weekend test ride at a cost of 25.00. The roubaix has really caught my eye but the allez is more in my price range. I'm trying to keep it around 1 grand.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking toward speed and endurance more than just a pure racing ride. Thanks.

the 25 is for a weekend ride (take it home and ride your route). then, it comes off your purchase price whatever you decide to buy. Try 4 bikes, take 100 off your purchace price.

Is there a big difference in the posture, geometry of an allez versus a roubaix. I only see a 10mm difference in head tube length and diidn't think that would make much of a difference.

roubaix is a more relaxed upright geometry
go with the CAAD 8 for a race bike and the roubaix for a more comfort/all day ride type bike

The Roubaix would be my choice for a comfortable ride, but thinking long term, I think the CAAD8 would be a better bet.

Personally I'd take them all on the weekend test ride and let your ass decide.
