Decent price for a beater?
My LBS has an old Trek 1100 for $200. The guy didn't know much about it but it looked pretty clean, no dents or anything. About all it would need is new tape. It had Suntour Edge 7-speed components which I'd never heard of.
He didn't know what year it was but it looks pretty much identical to this bike which is a 1990 model according to it's homepage.
Does that seem like a decent deal? Also is there any reason a more modern drivetrain wouldn't work on a bike like this?

I've got an 88 TREK 1000 frame with 8 sp sora parts, and it is pretty decent. $200 would seem fair if functional.

Interesting bars on that bike. They are "pinging" something in my brain that hasn't quite made it to the surface.

The bars are Scott Drop-In's. I remember a promo pic of Armstrong on Motorola in '93 with those funky bars...
