Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It finally happened

The moment I've always dreaded...I fell over while riding 0 mph. I was stopped, talking to my dad with my left foot unclipped. He was to my right, i was looking down at something he was pointing out about his drivetrain, I leaned right a little too far and down I went.

Everyone always said "you're going to fall eventually." I thought I was in the clear after 5 months of riding clipless without falls.

Ahh.......during that time you should have been practicing clicking out of your non-dominant foot as well. Chances are, in this situation you would have instinctively clicked out of the other foot and saved yourself. I've fallen a few times myself, but this has also save me from many more embarrassing moments....

Lol good one. I kinda had something similiar almost happend today. I clipped out of my right pedal but then ended up leaning slightly to the left. Luckily for me there was a garbage can on the left side which I managed to hold on. Another time I was saved by a friend beside me. And yeah I am new but still haven't had that real fall due to the pedals. Someone told me to always be out of the seat as you unclip... I think that's a good tip, I just don'l always follow it myself.

Better than me. First red light....Ouch! There went my pride.
Practiced on trainer for weeks to get used to the feel.
Only once since. Cut off by a car.

don't worry about it, it happens to everyone, whether or not they want to admit it or not...
