Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

fsa pro wing vs deda magic

I'm looking to replace my current handlebars which were slightly damaged in a recent crash. They were supergo bars and had a little flex to them so I'm not sad to see them go. I ride campy so I need double groove if I go with a round top bar. I've heard good things about the Deda magic but I'm also interested in the fsa pro wing.

Icycles has FSA pro wing bars for $34.94. If you have other suggestions I'm open.

If you're willing to spend the extra $$$ then get the FSA K-Wing Carbon bars. They work great with campy shifters and have a clean internal cable routing.

If he's thinking of buying $35 bars, $200 bars or however the cost might be a bit out of budget!

I just got the FSA Wing pro. I haven't ride it yet (components haven't arrived), but I've been having a little problem dialing the tilt of the bars to my liking.

If I'm gonna do it again, I'll get a regular (non "wing") bars.

+1

I have the FSA Wing Pro's and they are great. Go for it. Carbon IMHO is over the top and that money could be spent in many more places where you would notice the upgrade more.

I used to have the Pro Wing before switching to the K-Wing. Carbon bars are definitely great but not $200 greater than the Pros. I got mine used at a sweet deal ($80) so I could justify the switch.
That said the Pro has the same advantage with a flat top section I really like especially when climbing. The Pro has double width groove for the cables so they work ok with Campy but you can still feel the cables through the bar tape as the groove is not very deep.
I found the Pro to be quite susceptible to road vibration as most aluminum bars. Adding the Fizik gel pads helped a lot on these bars and I highly recommend those.

I use Pro Wing. I love those bars! The bent and deepness of them are perfect for me. It took a while to adjust to riding on the hoods. My wrists were uncomfortable for couple of weeks.

I'd love to get the K-wing carbon but the budget doesn't allow for it. So I'm trying to get the best deal possible. I've always wanted to try the wing bars and $35 seems pretty reasonable. Before I pulled the trigger I just wanted to see who has used them and if someone else had a better recommendation at a relative pricepoint.

They are designed for the ends of the bars to be parallel with the ground so the flats line up right with your hands.

I have the Wing Pro on two bikes and like it a lot.

That's what I thought, but for some reason I can't get that to work. If the bottom of the bar is parallel to the ground, the flats are a bit too "upwards" for my hands.

Not a big problem though, I set up the bar slightly tilted (bars not parallel)
