Beginner Road Biker
I wanted to start road cycling. And I have been looking for a bike. I was looking at the Jamis Ventura Sport, Tommaso Imola, and the Motobecane Mirage Sport. Should I go for one of these bikes or should I look for a used bike? I am on a extremly fixed budget and all the new bikes I listed would be a stretch. Where can I find good deals on bikes and or where can I find a good used bike.
Note: I've looked around at LBS but none have used bikes.

Have you included a helmet, gloves, bottle cages, spare tubes, etc., in your budget when looking at those $450'ish bikes?
A used bike is definitely the way to go as a higher end piece from a few years ago will likely have better gear on it compared to something low end and new today, the biggest problem is finding one that fits. Don't settle for something that makes you sore while riding or it'll take all of the enjoyment out of it.
Oh yeah, and forget the people who say to only buy from a local shop due to service and fitment, they will pretty much ignore new guys like us unless you want to fork over extra cash to get that service.
I'd be curious how a Bikes Direct $375 all aluminum, Sora-powered rig would compare to my Ventura Sport.

I just bought a bike from these guys on eBay member nsbsmn or
https://www.nicolletbike.com/
It may be worth a look. They seem to have an inventory of nice used and leftover bikes. Mostly Specialized and Trek. I haven't actually received the bike yet, Fedex has it, but they shipped fast.
